  1. (Putting tin hat on before typing) Say the expansion did go ahead could we not go the American route and black out the top tiers - possibly with some goddamit massive advertising boards or summit? Tacky yes, income generating yes, better than looking at empty seats yes
  2. Try being a fan in the States. Wait, don't. You'd lose your s***. i feel sorry for you.. when i visited a family friend (a brit) who lives in queens, i hated those pricks who interrupted (his yankydoodle friends) saying "its called soccer", real football is more of a man's game um.. no it f****** isn't, we invented the sport so we can call it what we want- do we call basketball spamalamdingdong. and yeah american football is a man's game ffs, those guys are more padded up then their illiterate soldiers. needless to say things got violent Ah that would prrrrrroper grind my gears that like. I would have brought up the whole 'world series' thing with baseball to see how they'd justify naming it that. American football might be tougher than football, but its hardly tougher than rugby. And you'd be just as guilty as those yanks for ignorance - the World Series is named after the sponsor of the competition Er... no, it's not. http://www.snopes.com/business/names/worldseries.asp http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Series Oops! Ok, I'm wrong apologies all round. But..... Did you know the Snopes/Wiki stories anyway or did you decide to check on them to see if you could prove someone wrong? Just interested!

  4. Should have the op now. We've got Martins to cover for now, but need Owen for January If McClown knows now that he is without Owen for Russia etc then he has more time to plan his approach. Worst case scenario is Owen plays on until Russia and limps off then after 20 mins
  5. Given Beye Taylor/Cacapa Rozenhal Enrique Milner Ron Faye Zog Smith/Dukes Martins However, Sam will go Harper Beye Roz Cacapa Zog Ron Smith Butt Milner Dukes Martins
  6. Harper will play on Sunday, Given v Arse in the cup, Harper in the next league game unless he loses form. It seems pretty straightforward to me
  7. Anyone sent it to Mediawatch on F365 yet?
  8. Nah we scared Zog and Milner into signing low paid deals by threatening them with Fulham and Villa respectively
  9. Can't believe no-one has come out with the obvious.... Celtic. Rangers gave us Souness and Boumsong Case closed
  10. Well less than 50% of the MPC are actually government appointed. So whats your take on Barclays securing a £2bn emergency loan within the past month? Should we all be taking money out of Barclays also?
  11. Owen and Martins. Might not work immediately, but we should look to build a defence and midfield to work to the strengths of these two
  12. Nearly... NR do borrow from banks as well as financial markets, they just use the financial markets more than most. Banks are refusing to wholesale lend with eachother at the moment and LIBOR is higher than the BoE lending rate, hence the reason NR went to the BoE. The BoE would not have lent the money to NR if they felt that either (a) the problems were of NR's own making, or (b) the current situation was not temporary and indicated a long term issue. Whoever leaked this info, nd whichever editor felt it was in the public interest to publish it deserve shooting tbh.
  13. We literally got nothing for £10m and probably £5-7m in wages. Just £15 or more chucked out the window. Hardly expensive then really, can't even get a DVD for that
  14. Well technically the Bolton game was the start of it if it happened
  15. Argghh I hate people. This is what causes bank failures. The initial 'problem' was under control. Everyone takes money out of NR, NR don't have the cash to repay them and have to call in their own loans from other banks, problems at other banks. People withdraw savings. etc etc
  16. ridiculous says it all, to be a good defender you have to be running around like Steven Taylor on ecstacy or flying in with challanges left, right and centre Ferdinand doesn't have to do this because he's one step ahead of the attacker, Ferguson's no mug, there's a reason he paid £30m for him He hasn't really improved since then though has he? Not a bad player by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm reminded of a comparison with Woody when we signed him... Woody will play each and every minute of the game as an 8/9 out of 10 player and rarely will you notice him try anything clever Rio plays like a 9/10 out of 10 player for 85 minutes then try to be clever and cock up
  17. We aint overly worried at PwC, and a lot of our clients where I work have Northern rock loans etc
  18. Oba now Past names on shirts reflecting favourites Gillespie (94-95) Elliott (95-96) Pav (numerous) - probably my favourite since I started supporting the Toon, actually didn't like Given to begin with because he replaced Pav! Maric (98-99) :-[ mackems.gif :giggle: Dabizas (00-01) As you can see never really went with the obvious ones........
  19. So when do we get to boo Bentley again?
