  1. Thats a bit of a gross generalisation. Either way, youre opinion on seniors seems the same as your opinion on students and single parents, yet seniors get discounts You been to college or uni before? Im not being funny with you or owt. Genuine question Is this where you assume I'm a thicko because I got a job at 16? Nah, I did too for a couple of years. Just wondering whether you had been a student. If you had then maybe your opinion would be different. Being a student is a choice (one I made) and therefore why should students get discounts and freebies? I never had as much disposable income as I did as a student, when you top up loans and partime jobs coupled with relatively cheap rent, no taxes, and the abundance of chaep food and drink on offer you are minted compared to when you stop being a student and actually start working for a living and contributing to the tax system. I'm with SSR on this one
  2. Swansea away, just so i can go and see it! (would be a bastard for toon based lads to get to tho)
  3. Andy O'Brien, purely for the 'Derby' game
  4. So lets see... When we signed Enrique we were all chuffed about the fans reaction to losing him. Ditto Smudge What must the West Ham fans think when they see this thread!
  5. Say he was on £60k a week we are also saving £3.12million in wages this year £45k and its £2.34m for the year. Either way we are effectively £10m+ better off from this deal
  6. Whenever I see the name Cacapa! (with the exclaimation mark) I just think of a Streetfighter type move beng pulled off. (Sad I know)
  7. If Faye comes in them centre back is sorted. Wouldn't have any problems with any pairing for Taylor-Roz-Faye-Cacapa Edgar has looked decent in his cameo last season so he'll do for 5th choice. Huntington I'm undecided on, Ramage I'd peddle if an offer came in Agree on right back, if we could get in a solid right back then 5th place could be a realistic position for us come May
  8. There wouldn't necessarly be interest attached to it - NR could have an agreement which entitles them to x% of any money NUFC make out of marketing involving Owen or a % interest based on sell on fee. I know through my work that Swansea have a similar arrangement with their sponsors
  9. Harper Carr Roz Taylor Inglesas (#1,000!) Geremi Smith Zog Dukes Oba James 'John Cena' Milner
  10. Would love Nike to start sponsoring the Toon, on an Adidas shirt obviously
  11. If they just decided to walk away, then in theory we could not pay them back and get a new sponsorship deal = double the money! Can't for one second imagine that the deal has been structured to allow us to do this though
  12. Thought no Sunderland players lived in Sunderland anyway.......
  13. Given Cacapa Geremi Martins Dukes Owen Duff Emre All top drawer proven class Rozhenal Enrique Taylor Zogbia Milner Internationals at decent-good nationsa u21 or full level Carroll Krul Tipped to be great Thats being conservative
  14. Joe Lewis is a billionaire. Clubs below us have spent big this season, but so have we - more than Man City IIRC. People keep on saying we 'blew our budget' on Bent, but I don't think that's the case. Yesterday news came through that we've submitted a planning application for 'the development of a world class Academy and First Team Training Centre', which I'd guess will cost a few bob. I'm sure the funds are available to strengthen further, it just seems as if the management have failed to notice that gaping hole on the left of midfield and problems in defence. Even so, it makes our strategy of investing so heavily in youth all the more commendable/sensible. Boateng, who was probably one of the best players in the Germany, and certainly the best prospect there, could prove a snip at £5m - he's ready to make an impact in the first team now, but if he develops and fulfills even half his potential in 2 or 3 years time, along with Taarabt, Bale, Kaboul and Lennon, we could even be challenging for the top spots. Even Bent is only 23, the average age of our squad. We certainly look in a much healthier position than NUFC in the long term - most of your new signings should only last a season or two max, and your future lies in the hands of Edgar, Huntington and Ramage. Viduka and Cacapa I'll give you as being 1-2 season signings Enrique, Barton, Smith, Rozhenal all got at least 6 seasons in them. Geremi I'd say 4 or 5
  15. Ideal scenario: Mass brawal after 70 mins. Each team deducted points
  16. Really? What position? I'd guess you'd be some kind of Walter Mitty style hardman. He's starting XI as the left right out but when they have a really tough game the manager prefers to use him as the offensive right back out in a 4-5-3 formation! for the easier games do you stick to the regulaton 11 players?
  17. Does his staying mess up the ridiculous line-up in your sig like? The one that doesn't include £12m worth of new players Not too dissimilar to my Proevo line that that
  18. So the only thing holding up the transfer is a transfer fee? Pretty fundamental dontcha think?
  19. Under the headline... "Super Mario Deal Hitch" (just seen it on the icnewcastle website - no details yet) We're going to be sponsored by Nintendo Wii!
  20. Oh, for fucks sake man, behave. Like he does his own weekly food shopping. I've seen a helicopter parked in the disabled bay at Kingston Park Tesco.
  21. Problems with Spurs: 1. No proven winners in their squad, couldn't understand letting Davids go for that reason 2. Best defender injury prone, defence looks suspect without him 3. Paul Robinson 4. Jermain Jenas 5. Poor spending this summer. Didn't address where was needed, blew their load on an expensive bench buddy for Defoe 6. Piss poor midfield 7. Jermain Jenas 8. Berbatov........ let me explain! 2 seasons ago Spurs had a good team, no stand out individuals but 11 players at any one time playng for eachother. Last season Spurs relied on Berbatov, without him UEFA cup football would have been unlikely. A signing which although improved the quality of strikers weakened the team, think Shearer for us (I know he kept us up, but the 95-96 team was better all round than the 96-97 team. He's also probably considering where he will move to next summer, all in all a weakness for the club.
