  1. But income is and has never been a problem since the advent of the Premier League and Champions League, its the level of expenditure and the vast majority of that is linked to increasing income levels - i.e. players wages, transfer fees and agents. Take the income down 10% and these will need to fall accordingly. Short term there is a problem whilst existing contracts wind through but the existing TV deals should help navigate this period. It's also why the SL won't fix the clubs debt problems. Do we really think Haaland's agent won't be all over the increased revenue and £500k a week suddenly becomes a demand of £1m. A SL league club want to take Neymar in - £500m please
  2. Could simply disband the Premier League and the small 14 rejoin the Football League as part of a massive reset and rebuilt. Bring in the Scottish FA to promote some joint competitions. With some bold and creative thinking this could be a huge opportunity to build and improve on what is already there. Any notion of a big 6 is fluid, 10 years ago Liverpool were hours away from going bust and were midtable despite being a powerhouse 10 years before that. 15 Years ago Arsenal were second only to Man Utd, who were Spurs then exactly? City - third tier weren't they? That's not decrying achievements of any club, its just highlighting that new giants can and will emerge but we will have a good run where everything is up in the air and competition is king
  3. Most of the income goes on wages and agents anyway, income falls then so do wages so proportionally money still filters down. First couple of years would be tough to navigate though
  4. I hope this Super League will never happen. With the way the CL is now running, football has a great product, even with the Europa League. "For me, the Champions League is the Super League, in which you do not always end up playing against the same teams Klopp 2 years ago
  5. Work permit issues may come into play for a few
  6. More likely to get sanctioned for that than for joining the SL in the first place
  7. Go back to the family roots and bring in Frankie Lampard
  8. I'm looking forward to the blue pitches with a huge Pepsi logo in the centre circle and drinks brinks sponsored by Gatorade. Could they not just make it a five a side tournament held in a cage on a big ship?
  9. Rangers and Celtic must be thinking that this gives them a chance of joining the Premier League to help fill avoid. Not that this wouldn't bring it's own issues for Scottish football. The Premier League would recover from losing the big 6, a few years of clubs like Leicester, West Ham, us (?) fighting in a competitive league would soon bring interest right back, the big 6 is a man made concept anyway. Fifa preventing players from playing at World Cups may have a huge impact on the super league as well.
  10. Sheff Utd stay up. Ramifications though, likely to lead to more clubs being promoted from league 1....
  11. Interesting question - if Barca got kicked out of La Liga would the registration they have for Messi become invalid and he's therefore a free transfer (and repeat across all the clubs)
  12. Yeah I don't think it will happen but Masters must be thinking he's being shat upon by those he has been working for. Shame
  13. In a dramatic fu Masters now waves in PIF
  14. Wonder if Sheff Utd have one of those upticks in form that relegated teams sometimes have. If either us, Brighton or Burnley don't pick up 3 points then it will get interesting. If Fulham do get out of it I think it will he Burnley who go. Either way I think we'll know after the City game, it's only us and/or Fulham picking up points in the last 2 games
  15. A bold and controversial prediction
  16. After shockingly putting Shearer in the players we saw too much of thread, I'm going to add him here as well. Seems mental after 10 years, but we lost so much of his prime years with injury
  17. Yup, but one thing we've been really bad at is looking to phase out or sell players at the right time. He's a fucking legend and of course the comment is with the benefit of bucket loads of hindsight but it was 2 seasons too many as the main man
  18. Rob (not Robbie) Elliott. This is sacrilege but Shearer. Yes we got to see him break the goalscoring record, but Bobby's last season should have been Kluivert and Bellamy with Shearer being phased out. Instead we ended up replacing him with a disinterested Owen
  19. I don't see Brighton or Burnley picking up anything other than in their games against Sheff Utd. We'll beat Sheff Utd and get another random point, poss 2. Fulham will beat us and Sheff Utd, question is can they scrape another 3 or 4 to relegate one of the B' s?
  20. Looking at Burnley's fixtures they are in real trouble if we win. A six pointer away at Fulham and then last game at Sheff Utd the only realistic chances of a win. I can also only see Sheff Utd being the best chance for Brighton to pick up another 3 points. It really is going to be who is the least shit of the shittest group staying up
  21. We beat Burnley and they are right in the brown stuff, Southampton and us were 2 massive games in their run in. Brighton would he right back in it as well. Lose and its a straight shootout between us and Fulham
