  4. Olivier Bernard can come out of retirement .....and Dider Domi is on a free
  5. Oh dear god..... or back in for Jason Puncheon
  6. his contract expired.....don't think he has played left back since his days in Argentina. Even at the scum he was played as a left winger...but these days as a central midfielder for the smoggies.
  7. Mangala linked again today http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_7075756,00.html

    Xisco

according to the Chronicle, Xisco will travel to the Netherlands along with the Barton for the reserve team fixtures over there. Don`t see why he shouldn`t have got a chance with the 1st team squad on the U.S tour tbh.......especially as Ranger is on the transfer list and has had his visa rejected. Leon Best`s fitness is still in doubt and Lovenkrands...well......
  9. Boca - River Plate is always full and a mad house (in terms of domestic games)......shame there is no derby next season. River relegated ffs......

  11. Argentina vs Uruguay in the quarter final.....much earlier than anticipated. In Copa history, Argentina - Uruguay fixtures...13 victories for Argentina and 13 victories for Uruguay, plus 3 draws. Both teams have 14 Copas....plus both with 2 WCs and Olympic titles....a battle Should be a cracker but I think/hope Uruguay win
  12. Would be pretty interesting to see some players go against the tide and head over there from Europe. Can't think of many that have done that in recent times.....only Dejan "Rambo" Petkovic who has been great over there and erm....Jose Dominguez the ex Spurs player. There is a young English left back who has been playing over there in the lower divisions too. --- From Barnack to Brazil: English boy becomes a football star in Brazil after he is spotted by scouts on a school trip http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1245457/English-boy-football-star-Brazil-spotted-scouts-school-trip.html
  13. Colombia have always been big underachievers considering the size/population of the country and the talented players they had over the years. Good to see Falcao on the scoresheet. He is another one who hasn't really produced the same club form for his country.
  14. Really? wouldn`t qualify for a work permit here.....Guatemala are outside the top 70 FIFA world rankings and you have to be within that generally to get a permit as well as played 3/4 of your country`s games in the last year. Maybe the latter he qualifies for but the former no. Unless he has some long lost european granny for a european passport.
  15. probs mentioned but I noticed Joaquin signed for Malaga for 4m euros last month? canny cheap like I have a few Brazilian friends and they told he was a top class player when he was in Brazol with Sao Paulo. I thought he was pretty good at Fenerbache on the few occasions I've seen him, but that was ages ago.
  16. Barcelona 'eyeing up move for Jose Enrique' JOSE ENRIQUE is understood to be on the shortlist of Champions League winners Barcelona – according to reports in Catalonia. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/newcastle-united/nufc-news/2011/07/06/barcelona-eyeing-up-move-for-jose-enrique-72703-29003491/
  17. Coentrao for 30m euros....I heard Benfica will take Garay for 10m euros (which seems amazing as he`s hardly played since moving) as part of the deal, according to some Spanish reports.
  18. Mexico almost nicked an equalizer in the 89th min there...excellent block by one of the Chile defenders
  19. Simultaneously our second-choice center-forward(we play one up front) and one of our brightest youth prospects, so pretty highly. He usually plays better for the national team than at club level though. Won rookie of the year in his debut season but had a pretty dire half-season this year before he was sold. http://www.rokerreport.com/2011/7/4/2257410/getting-to-know-ji-dong-won-a-korean-insight So Ji Dong-Won has joined Sunderland. What can you tell us about him? Kim: He's a natural-born striker. Good at scoring with his head and feet, he is a versatile player who can play wide positions - we can say he is a Korean Raul Gonzales (Real Madrid). His weakness is fitness. Still, he is a young player, so he would expect to learn how to handle it in England. If you were to compare him to any forward currently playing in the Premier League or elsewhere in Europe, who would it be? Kim: As I mentioned above, Raul Gonzales is a similar player to him in style. Well balanced and scores goals consistently - although his nickname here was "Gwangyang-man (Gwanyang Bay) Rooney" Where does Ji currently rate amongst the top prospects in Asia and Korea specifically? Kim: He is not the best striker in K-League but regarded as one of the most prominent young strikers. Many pundits and media regard him as the stand-out member of the 'next-generation' Korean national team. Ji emerged from the recent Asia Games with many positive headlines. As a result of his performances in the competition, would you say he has now established himself as an important part of the Korean national team? Kim: He is not a starting eleven player for Korean national team quite yet. Particularly, his performance for the Korean Olympics(U-23) team against Jordan was frustrating. Although he is moving to Sunderland, Ji Dong-Won should get more national team games and prove his worth again. He is one of the best players available to the team. Sunderland have had a rough time with integrating South Americans into the Premier League of late due to the league's physically demanding nature. Would you consider Dong-Won likely to be able to adapt to English football? Kim: Of course there could be a fitness problem but he already knows what English football is through early parts of his life when he was a youth player at Reading. Moreover, it is a great opportunity to improve himself as a player. Was there any surprise in Korea that Sunderland were able to sign the player ahead of the likes of PSV and Schalke? Kim: Actually, Korean football fans regard the English Premier League as the top flight of world football. Like any Asian fans you know, they prefer the 'big clubs'. If Ki Sueng-Yong of Celtic, for example, had a chance to move to Sunderland, they would say 'yes, you should move'. According to reports PSV, who had Korean Football heroes like Park Ji-Sung, Lee Young-Pyo and Guus Hiddink, was the big challenger to Sunderland but most people say it is good move for him. Sunderland are not noted for being a club with any great global appeal or interest, but is the acquisition of Dong-Won likely to generate a new and fervent interest in the club in Korea? Kim: Koreans are well-known for their nationalism, although it only applies for the nationwide representatives like Park Ji-Sung, Kim Yeona and Park Chu-Young. They worship them. A great example being loyal Manchester United Korean fans who hung the banner 'Here is another Old Trafford' on the Seoul World Cup Stadium. So, as long as Ji Dong-Won's name is in the starting eleven, Sunderland will be loved by Koreans. Of course, at the same time, the Black Cats need to be towards the top of the league, or they would just say "Ji should move to the bigger clubs".

    Xisco

It`s a shame the Xisco loan deal to Deportivo already went through last Jan.....just as Carroll`s late transfer came around. With our lack of forward cover at the back end of last season it would have been an ideal time to see if Xisco really was upto but it`s all ifs and buts...... Still not sure about him but he has definitely not been given a fair chance (whether it`s down the X number of games = extra payment to Depor rumour I don`t know). He`s done fine in the very few games he`s actually played though.
  21. Guess who's set to become the 3rd highest paid football in the world behind C.Ronaldo and Messi? Dario Conca ....yeah I`m sure most of you have heard of him (canny player in the Brazilian league) A club in China Guangzhou Evergrande F.C offered him nearly 10.5 milion euros a year and overall 27.5 mil euros for 2 and a half years..10m euro transfer fee.
  22. as others have mentioned, we have other priorities first....but yes another centre back would be nice. I`ve been impressed with Kadar whenever he`s came in but his injury history isn`t great unfortunately.
  23. 99% of people on here will have no fkcing clue who you're on about unless they play the Argie league on FM religiously TBF 99.9999999% sounds about right. aye he doesn't even have a wiki in English ffs
