Very good player IMO but he seems to be struggling here, and of course the money is to good to reject. Should be good with a new captain under the Allardyce reign to...!

I saw Boateng play quite a few times in Sweden when he was with AIK. He improved during his last season and was one of the major reasons they climed back to the topflight in one season, but he failed to make an impact that was even close to the likes of Afonso Alves (scored 34 in 31 for Heerenveen this season), so I don't think he's a player that Sam should be looking at if he wants to finish within the top 6 of the Premiership.

Should be good considering how they developed Billy Sharp and Andrew Keogh.

I'm very, very excited. Suprised at Shepherds excellent act to get rid of Roeder and bring this terrific scientist of a football manager in. We'll probably start off very well like Aston Villa did with O'Neill. Some kind of a crisis will occur sooner or later, and then Sam should be a good enough manager to guide us into Europe during the spring. I think we'll progress in the League Cup like Tottenham did this season. Allardyce is here for the long term, I don't expect or require immediate success at all.

Allardyce has never been given a chance at a big club before, and he did a terrific job at Bolton AND Notts County. To suggest that he isn't capable of turning us in to a top-4 club again seems a bit daft to me. He has a great record everywhere he's been, this is the first time he'll be at a club that has top-4 potential. I'm confident he's smart enough to be a huge success.

Dawson and King ahead of Taylor. What has he done to deserve this?

I think Allardyce might be able to bring the best out of him.

Why this thread? Is the appointment as good as done? Don't understand why people seem to be so sure about it just because of ...bookmakers? Or is it anything else that indicates on the deal being as good as done?

Actually, it was the chairman Sergio Cargnotti who bankrupted them, Sven just pointed to the players he wanted. But I'd rather have Allardyce at Newcastle than Sven, he loves publicity - just look at his decision to bring Walcott to Germany. In Sweden he's more known for his private affairs than the fact that he won the Uefa Cup with Gothenburg, which was a fantastic achievment.
