Is that really the dig Gooch thinks it is considering Wycombe made it to the Champo before them that very season? Well done on getting there two years after them, lads.. Picking fights with Wycombe.
  2. You got in there with the 'if' before I added an edit. Agreed on him being #1 if we managed to get him but just imagine persuading him would involve £150k+, let alone £100k+ and can understand the club not wanting to let wages start skyrocketing too fast.
  3. Would love Jesus. Only concern is if Spotrac is accurate he's been on £90k for the past four years? Have to expect he's going to want a hefty salary bump. The sort of player we should at least be putting the feelers out for though. EDIT: Fuck knows why I said 'only concern' as if money is the only reason we wouldn't be top of his list.
  4. I think that is the match you mean; https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/507052/Live/England-Premier-League-2011-2012-Swansea-Newcastle The stats were outrageous but I recall they didn't threaten us at all. Was peak Rodgers/Swansea empty possession. Similarly though on the shithousery I can't deny that Simpson and Raylor using Stoke's towels before every throw in that (I think) same season filled me with immense glee.
  5. Unfortunately me, apparently.
  6. It may not have been coming back from two down but we survived on the literal last day of the season less than a decade a go in a match capped off by a late goal from a fan favourite who'd beaten testicular cancer that very season and from what I recall everyone managed to stay in the stands.. Maybe I've just got a shit memory but I still can't recall pitch invasions being this normal at the end of every other season. I should just try and chalk it up to being so happy with NUFC right now that I'm trying to find something to whinge about.
  7. As hilarious as it always is when Everton lose, I'd be happy with a draw tonight. Wouldn't really make any difference for them as to what needs to happen on Sunday considering Leeds's horrific goal difference, would it? Whereas the two points dropped by Palace would give us a better chance at sneaking that top 10 spot at the last minute.
  8. I think he's implying that the new owners are hogging spotlight they shouldn't be in, despite everyone being able to pretty quickly show him SJH also doing these laps back in the day. Unfortunately he's worded it ambiguously enough that he can just play dumb to those accusations and state it was a genuine question, even though everyone knows he's just being an antagonistic prick which is exactly why it'd be better if these people just got no engagement at all.
  9. The only solution is another shootout, obviously.
  10. More like he can't be arsed to get all the way down to the final tweet that highlights it's due to changes made by Howe and just sits there red faced asking his little Alex "why didn't they do that for me???".
  11. Love a reporter who wants to get his drivel out there but is too scared to open his condescending tweets up to comments.
  12. Hey, now. Calm down. In a few years we might think finishing 12th and 13th mightn't have been so bad after all.
  13. He really could be something special for this club. Eddie, not Luke.

Fair. Just a guess on my part. I don't know shit.
  15. This the new Twitter Nonsense thread or something?
  16. I know it's inevitable when one of the best players in the world is becoming a free agent but I'm absolutely sick of hearing about what Mbappe will or won't do.

I only skimmed it the other day but I thought the quoted £112m was including wages for the new signings? I could very well be wrong though.
  18. I'm looking forward to the transfer window but it'd be a damn sight more entertaining if we still had competitive matches in between it. Considering there shouldn't be any sign of a relegation battle next year I can't wait for January 2023.
  19. The bold in particular; give me that beautiful shot in front of all the fans still in the Gallowgate on Monday night over any of these pitch invasions.
  20. Even if Howe took such a downturn that he's out of the door soon (which I don't think will happen), I'd be disappointed if we just threw money at Mourinho. Past his prime, complete waste of Howe trying to get the team playing more expansive and would lumber us with a bunch of expensive 30-somethings before flouncing off two years later, leaving us with little FFP wiggle room and no coherent long-term plan.
  21. I know Brummie's already voted grump but so fuck I'm still gonna whinge. Pitch invasions just feel like the latest contrived 'moment maker' to me. In the same way everyone suddenly decided a couple of international tournaments ago that it's natural to throw your pints in the air when watching a football match in the pub. Certain times obviously will have some spontaneity about it, e.g. if I was a Bristol Rovers fan I could certainly imagine getting swept up in that as that was fucking mental. But as with everything these days it feels like it has to be co-opted by bellends for attention.
  22. Am I just a grump or are these pitch invasions just going OTT now? You're not even up yet ffs.
  23. Fair play Samba. Proper in their heads.
  24. I need to find someone that looks at me the way Dec looks at BDB.
  25. I love the idea in theory but you'd figure someone like Lodi wouldn't come to share starting duties and Targett wanted out of Villa because he wants to start games. If we sign him permanently I think it has to be with the intention of being first choice for at least one year, maybe two, otherwise we're thanking him for his tremendous contribution this season by locking him in to a contract in the exact situation he's currently trying to leave. If Howe can't guarantee that based on what he wants out of his full back long-term I'd rather we do the decent thing, are honest about that and just thank him for this half a season and good luck wherever he heads on to. Ultimately, if we sign Targett next season as our first choice left back I'd have no reservations whatsoever; while not exactly explosive I actually think he's underrated as far as what he offers going forward. Equally, knowing the style of football Howe wants long-term, I will completely understand if he pursues another option.
