  1. I can just see the headlines after our new trophy signing comes out with "I only came here for the money. There is no chance of this club ever winning trophies, the best I can hope for in my time here is the odd quarter-final and getting sucked off by some charver lass from Walker."
  2. Did they manage to beat anyone apart from us? *edit* Quick check of the league table says 'no'. Sigh..
  3. Not about to try to second guess Sam's team selection, but controversially I can see a win here, for no other reason than because we have a good record at Ewood Park. Even Souness got us a win and a performance at Blackburn. 1-3 to emulate Souness. Please.
  4. I resisted answering this yesterday, as after that performance I would would have said sack him. After sleeping on it, I now say keep him. Simply because I can't see any change being beneficial to the club. If things haven't improved by the end of the season, he needs to go. I thought Sam was the man for the job before he came here, he isn't doing himself any favours with the current tactics though.
  5. HAWAY THE TOOON LETS BEAT TEAMS AND THAT AND NOT KEEEP PLAYING SHIT AND LOSING ALL THE TIME

    Steve McClaren

He'd need to learn English first, other than that, impressive c.v Yes. An England manager who can't speak english is surely not an option. At the age of 61, will he be able to learn a new language? Bearing in mind most people of that age can't learn to use a mobile phone, program a video etc?
  7. So would I. Unfortunately they are busy elsewhere in the summer.
  8. The Happy Mondays, Whitley Bay Ice rink. Dunno the year, probably circa 1990.
  9. It wouldn't be such a problem if the ACN wasn't held so frequently. They should hold it every four years. The Copa America is every 4 years now due to similar concerns, I believe.
  10. wHAT?Ok whose being better besides Cech?Ya since the star trek fucker nearly killed him!I would,he has being out for any serious amount of time!Im confident that Sam and his team can sort it! Sorry if I'm being dim. Star Trek fucker?
  11. No. The problem is the game is full of xenophobes who trot out this shite whenever England are in a slump. There's nowt wrong really. Apart from the manager. And the perpetual notion that the England side should be selected almost entirely on the basis of club form. I'm kind of in agreement with the good doctor, on the other hand I do think that English players' wage demands cause a lot of it. We don't have any truly class foreigners in our squad, I think english players would be in if their foreign counterparts weren't significantly cheaper. Never really understood why an average english player should demand more ££ than an average foreigner.
  12. Too thick? :giggle: Too English.
  13. Sell Owen - Yes. Get Anelka - Yes. Get Crouch - No.
  14. Yep. Whether there's something in it or not, I can't help feeling it is inevitable he is going to go. If he is, it should be ASAP so we can look at building something rather than trying to accomodate him into Sam's style which clearly doesn't get the best out of him.
  15. Long winded diatribes are cool.
  16. Of course foreign managers have the added advantage of a Euro knowledge base and contacts that can identify young talent. Unless they are shit?
  17. Arse Shaving. Is it just me? Nearly as good as Pinas.
  18. If you mean abroad for a manager, I think we need to stick with this one for at least this season anyway. I would be delighted with one of these foreign supercoaches who can produce 17 year old superstars for peanuts (Wenger) or pluck relative unknowns from abroad using their finely honed network of scouts and contacts (Sven). Unfortunately we would probably end up with Christian Gross. Or Bertie Vogts, Alain Perrin, or some other Frank Spenceralike.
  19. I can't answer 'yes' to this question, and I am surprised so many can. Based on the evidence we have seen so far, and his track record at Bolton, what is it that is giving everyone so much confidence that Sam wouldn't spunk £50 Million on average players in much the same way Souness did? I was all for Allardyces appointment, based on what it looked like we were trying to achieve at that time. There's no doubt he will stabilise things and make us hard to beat etc etc but to me this will result in us occupying much the same league position as us and Bolton have for the last few years. As a few people have said, I don't think this style of football can glean consistent success. Steady, safe league positions, maybe the odd cup success but we should be aiming higher than Bolton I really hope I am wrong, but I voted 'no'. Allardyce talks a good game but his real test will be if he gets significant funds to play with. It could prove to be a costly gamble. Reading this back, it sounds pretty anti-Allardyce, actually I'm not and also think he needs time. I just can't say he is the man to spend the wedge and I can't see how anyone else can think he is, bearing in mind he has never done it before.
  20. Think the site owners are on to a good thing like. They have just got 20,000 well meaning idiots to buy them a football club (the money is classed as a donation). They can then sell it and keep all the cash. Why didn't I think of that?
  21. I quite like having a few nutters on the team. If we are going to lose, we may as well go down in style..
  22. Bit mental, but interesting to see what happens. When team selection is a general concensus of thousands of people, it doesn't leave much room for innovative tactics etc. How do they decide on substitutes? That isn't something you can plan in advance. I am of the opinion that the manager's role is overstated in getting results a lot of the time, so it will be interesting to see what a bunch of geeks who pick the team inbetween wanking over Paris Hilton and playing World of Warcraft can achieve.
