  1. true but if a plethora of clubs are after a certain player (assuming the wages are the same) that player will undoubtedly pick a more successful team. I haven't noticed Man City have any problems. There are lots of factors but using Parky's example if I was a player and had the choice of Bolton or Man City (pre season, even before Sven arrived) I would say joining Bolton would be the wrong move, even though they had european football. This would be due to the size of crowd, potential, history etc at City outweighing a few games against some Estonians at Bolton
  2. A player who just joins a club who are in europe isn't as valuable as a player who joins a club he believes in and wants to help make them a success, imo. Not too many of them around but I do think Barton, Rozenhal and hopefully Enrique too fit that category.
  3. Same personnel, clean sheet, comfortable win. Owen Hat-trick 0-3 (after coming on after 55mins)
  4. Only if anybody is actually watching it
  5. What would make you sex wee more though, Uefa cup or Carling Cup? There is no right or wrong answer, unless it's different to mine! Nobody asked me... i'll answer anyway if its attracting players you want then you can't do much better than winning UEFA. Carling cup is about as useless as a stripper pole in a church, internationally. What would make you sex-wee more though (excluding the stripper pole obviously)
  6. He does look remarkably like a toad like. A toad with piggy eyes.

  8. bitter, bitter, bitter I think people were saying the same thing last year tbh, the UEFA cup only gets interesting around the quarter finals mark once all the teams who, let's be honest, are just making up the numbers have been knocked out. I mean when you think about it, for our team to have progressed so far under Roeder and Souness, can it really be seen as a prestigeous competition? 'Boro in the Final? It's quite sad that the thing that has been keeping our hopes up for the last few years has been beating the likes of Zulte-Waregem, Levadia Tallinn, FK Ventspils et al, only for us to trip up when we finally meet a decent team (bit harsh mind, we beat some decent teams last season). Not inspiring, would love to win it but as far as priorities go I would prefer the carling cup as I believe it's harder to win. There is only one european competition as far as I'm concerned and it's not the UEFA cup. Any player who would go to a team because they qualified for that competition is probably a crack addict.
  9. wrong,i'd like to own NUFC but i think the club would be better off with the right successful businessman in charge The right successful businessman isn't someone who is going to sell any time soon. If he is looking to sell now, we can only assume that he is looking for the maximum return on his investment now, which at this time can't possibly be success on the pitch. How can this situation be good for the club? Hopefully the Chron is right for a change, the board aren't lying and it is all bollocks.
  10. If he sells it means his heart wasn't in it anyway, therefore we are better off with someone who wants to own us. Kudos on the facts NSG
  11. It all sounds good but it allows for further corruption if you ask me. What's to stop one of these technoboffins in their photolabs 'moving' the ball a yard over the line if they support the opposition team? Or, worst case scenario, moving the ball right the way to the other end of the pitch, resulting in a goal to the opposition?
  12. It's change for the sake of change. Nothing else. If Jol was really that much of a liability he should have been sacked immediately following the last game of last season (something Newcastle have often got wrong until Roeder's departure). As it is he's been allowed to shape pre-season and had input into what players could/should be bought. You may as well give the job to Commoli. It's a recipe for disaster when the DoF and Coach have clearly divergent views on players. Are you seriously saying Berbatov or Chimbonda would have joined other clubs if a DoF with Comolli's power didn't exist? It hardly took much scouting to find those and any competent chief-exec could have negotiated the deals. Part of the problem with the way Spurs are running this system, is it's being run in an alien environment where the media and fans where the blame for any perceived failure is heaped 100% on the manager. Jol is taking flak for Commoli's failings. btw Kuyt for 18m? Where did that come from? Never saw that figure quoted once in any story when LFC were trying to buy him and he eventually joined for just over 9m. Berbatov was Comolli's #1 pick for a tall striker to complement Keane/Defoe. Kuyt was Jol's #1 pick for that position. The first prices Spurs were given were £10.9m for Berbatov, £18m for Kuyt. Leverkusen never budged from their quoted figure, Feyenoord eventually dropped their figure to £13.3m. Comolli (against Jol's wishes) opted to sign Berbatov, Jol was happy to pay £18m for Kuyt and remained Kuyt remained Jol's preferred choice right to the end. The DoF and the Head Coach should obviously try to work harmoniously but it's inevitable there will be differences. The DoF will obviously back his own judgement. My concern would be if Comolli got more wrong than right and imho that isn't a matter for debate. OK So who's name are you going to adopt then?
  13. Who's name are you going to adopt once he's gone MJ?
  14. Hmmm. Cauldron of noise?
  15. Certainly hope the subtext wasn't painted as "go away, we hate Icelanders". It's more "go away, we don't want anyone buying the club again in the same summer" But we do hate "icelanders" don't we? Aye. Damn scouse birds with massive tits and coke habits
  16. Congratulations on at least trying to make a difference. Much needed and it will be interesting to hear the response (if any) from the new hierachy. As far as passionate and inspirational songs go, how about 'Ghostbusters'?
  17. I'd like to see a naked woman in goals for us for a change
  18. I like the way you got this back on topic, nice one. Slick
  19. I suspect if rival fans had this poll, they would vote for both options
  20. Haha. I voted for both, as I suspect did most others. Milner... 8 (50%) Bentley... 8 (50%)
  21. This. I'd never heard of him before this season, he looks class.
