More than anything, I care about seeing my football team play on a Saturday. As a fan base, we've been having this debate for years. Ultimately it comes down to what you personally get out of supporting the club. It's a complex concept, supporting a club, it means different things to different people. It's clear what it means to you. For me, though, and a lot of others; supporting the team is linked to feelings of ambition, achieving difficult aims, and coming together to support those things. All of these things are paramount to the match day experience; which might seem like putting the cart before the horse to those who think like you (see what I did there?). It's been clear since Alan Pardew was appointed that concepts like ambition and aiming high mean nothing to those in power at NUFC. I enjoy watching a game of football, and I get a similar level of enjoyment from seeing a goal scored by any team as I do seeing one scored by NUFC. But the difference is a goal scored by NUFC carries something that others don't, it's linked intrinsically to that ambition, it's a small step towards achieving those lofty aims. None of that exists in Ashley's NUFC. And that's why I don't go, because without the link to those feelings of pride, ambition and striving for more; it's just 22 blokes on a field. This is what Ashley has done to NUFC, it's not the fault of the match going fans; but their continued presence at SJP makes his toxic ownership of the club easier and likely to last longer. You can argue with that until you're blue in the face, but I'll never accept otherwise until I've seen what happens when the fans stay away. If he's still here after a prolonged period of fan abstinence, I'll hold my hands up and say I was wrong. Then what? We'll all be right back here, having lost what? A few days out? At least we'll be able to 'tell our grandkids' that we tried to do something in the face of such unrelenting distain for NUFC and the region it used to stand for. Hear, hear! Fantastic post, sums up my sentiments exactly.

Think we might need to get some other players to play alongside him in that case, though. I mean Lascelles is a good guy but he's not superman.
  3. There's no way he'll put himself in that position Agreed. Lawrie Sanchez is a much smarter cookie than people give him credit for. You mean Laurie Sanchez his big brother? Thought you mean there was no way Sanchez would allow himself to be put in the position of being a fallback appointment. He's got a bit of pride after all.

This! If he is sold the club is selling me as an supporter to. That is what this club has come to... where people are on the brink of quitting for good if we sell a player who has only played about 10 top flight games in his career (albeit, played very well). No, mate. It's where English football has got to. Money's corrupted the game and the transfer window has basically become a bidding war for the transfer of fickle, plastic fans.

Leicester, Spurs, Arsenal and Man City, man. Always has been, always will be. Yeah, proper clubs like United (you know, the real United not our pretendy wannabe United) or City (you decide whether I mean Leicester of Manchester or Hull, it's entirely up to you) or the other two big clubs Southampton and Crystal Palace.

    You know, the big 4.

He'll be off to one of the big 4. Nailed on.

They'll not do a Leicester, but I could well see them doing a Bolton. That'll be nice to watch. Do so love our 6-fingered neighbours.

Really what's the point of speculative bollocks like this? Pawing over the dying embers of our Premiership status, mewling and whimpering about all the possible permutations of different "What if" scenarios? Doesn't change where we are now and I can't see how it changes where we will be a year from now or 2,3 4 or 5 years after that.
  11. Maybe Donald Trump? Or Kim Wrongun? Or maybe David Cameron can ask one of the lads at this week's Anti-Corruption Summit?
  12. Can't wait for him to sell and we can rejoice in the club being bought by another self-seeking, inscrutable, greedy, unaccountable tosspot. Now that really will be progress.
  13. Coloccini can be sent back to Las Malvinas to live wit all the other useless sheep. With any luck he may tread on a landmine.
  14. Well, I don't share your view, not that it matters. Just think what a fucked up world we live in where a bog-average footballer is worth £1m a year let alone £4m.
  15. Couldn't fathom why we paid so much for him when we signed him up. Thought then that he was a lazy shit with a bad attitude and far too much hype and feel like I've been cruelly vindicated since. Cannot for the life of me see how shit like that can command £4m annual salary - but we're lumbered with him now, just like we were with Alan Smith, i.e. no other club is going to be mad/desperate enough to take him off our hands. If he pulls his thumb out of his sphincter, then he could potentially make a difference in the Championship, but that would be like expecting Gazza to come off the booze: you might wish it to happen, but you'd be as well to wish for it to rain strawberry Starburst.

TBH I'd rather see Norwich win their remaining two games, and both us and Sunderland lose. At least that way the SMB wouldn't have bragging rights beyond goal difference.

  19. At the current rate we'd be lucky to get Gary Megson.

Is it nailed on we would have Armstrong up front? Can't imagine there wouldn't be a fire sale over the summer...

 Fuck me. That's taking catastrophising to a whole new level.
  22. Getting relegated at the hands of the mackems surely has to trump every single other affront Ashley has have dealt out to us. Truly his crowning glory.
