  1. Agreed. That being said, I think we would have been relegated if we had Muto instead of Perez, Elliott instead of Dubravka or whomever would have deputized for Hayden during the second half of the season. We would probably have been fine with Fernandez or Clarke in place of Schar though, but that shouldn't be an argument for not praising Schar for his performance this season.
  2. 1. Perez 2. Rondon 3. Schar 4.Dubs 5. Hayden Honorable mention of Longstaff for the games he played, but too few to consider him.
  3. Both him and Yedlin are 25. There's a reason why Yedlin has been playing for Seattle, Spurs, Sunderland and us while Manquillo has played for Real Madrid youth team, Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, Marseille, Sunderland and us. He's a good footballer with a lot of potential. It's his mentality that is the problem. Hopefully Rafa can program him and we should have a cracking RWB.
  4. Fabinho with a dirty dive for their free kick that led to the third. TAA with the assist for the second when he should have been sent off. gj FA.
  5. For being the "big, duel strong" part of the back 3, Lascelles haven't really done himself proud today. Awful game.
  6. Went stiff there when the back of his head smashed to the ground.
  7. Can someone explain how TAA didn't get a card even though we scored? Wish Atsu and the players had protested harder to the ref. Feel like he let it slide just because we scored.

    Rafa BenĂtez

People dreaming of a fluid attacking newcastle under Benitez is doing just that - dreaming. We know what kind of play style he prefers. More quality will help make it look nicer but the fundamentals will still be there. Just look how he approached the championship season. Just because you like the blokedoesnt mean he will start playing entertaining football. It will always remain calculated, cautious and effective
  9. Good shout. He had one absolutely ridiculous good performance against....spurs? Assisted pretty good as a make-shift full back a couple of times but other than that failed to impress.
  10. If we had them during their prime they obviously wouldn't be on the list, but for us the gig was up and Newcastle was only a last desperate pay day for them as much as they were desperate signings by us. Not their fault we signed them, but that doesn't make them any better or worse than what they actually were for us.
  11. It's none of the listeds fault for being taken way above their level. They were all, relative to the level the club was at the time, shite.
  12. My approximate worst to least worst of the worst from the time I've been watching Newcastle: 1. Lamine Diatta 2. Sol Campbell 3. Ronny Johnsen 4. Cacapa 5. Paul Huntington 6. Dave Edgar 7. Peter Ramage 8. Marcelino 9. Steven Caldwell 10. Moke Williamson 11. Jean-Alain Boumsong 12. Oguchi Onyewu 13. David Rozehnal 14. Craig Moore 15. Steven Taylor 16. Titus Bramble Sure I've left someone obvious out. There's so much crap to choose from the last 20 years
  13. Too much quality and too much at stake for them to drop points against us. Our team will be prepared and set up to do its best as Benitez always does, but it won't be enough. A Winjaldum slip to give us a counter attack where Perez puts Milner on his ass before slotting home 1-0 in OT after a hard fought game would be fantastic though.
  14. It's just so basic. He could just as well have said "shooting wins games" or "passing wins games" Of course there's instances where a team has lost due to lack of commitment, but in most cases losing managers that blames the players for not giving their all are either in denial that they got the tactics wrong, or they don't see/understand what is wrong with their own approach so it has to be something else that is the issue.
  15. Played 22 games in 4 years. Ability wise though nowhere near the worst. 6 goals in his first 13 appearances before his injury nightmares started.

https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/inside-story-kevin-keegans-i-11261446 Sorry for just posting the link. The site crashes my pc when I try to scroll due to all the horrible ads, video ads and buggy scripts they force onto it so I'm not able to. Appreciate if anyone with a high end PC could copy&paste article so I can read it in its entirety as it seems to explain a bit more what Keegan meant with his Stuart Pearce comments etc.
  17. Please come back better and hungrier and claim the midfield spot as yours next season. Only got to see 2-3 games where he played this season, but looks like he has the tools and seemingly the attitude to become something really special for this club.

It saddens me a little bit that a whole generation of people will only associate Keegan with the time he kicked off with his headphones on. Sky in particular love bringing this moment up, but never seem to point out that Ferguson’s comments were out of order and they like to make Keegan out to be some silly little jumped up man who thought he could go toe to toe with Fergie. The man was an absolutely legendary footballer and was also a very good manager aswell. He has a 50% win ratio over his career, compare that to someone like Fat Sam who is apparently a good manager and has a 39% win ratio. I wish he was recognised a bit more for that. What exactly were Fergusons full comments? I've searched a bit now and before and this is all I've found: https://www.theguardian.com/sport/blog/2009/jan/15/sir-alex-ferguson-mind-games https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/babb/11586896/The-full-story-of-Kevin-Keegans-I-will-love-it-rant.html
  20. Christ. I envy your poor memory. I can't remember it either I remember Allardyce for some reason used him as a right winger to begin with, and then moved him back to CM where he had played during his last appearances for Man Utd.

    Papiss Cisse

That rough man. Feel for all of them but especially Steven Caulker with his history of mental illness having to experience that.
