Imagine in a world where no transfers of players from one club to another existed: Which teams would be the best in England today then? In a way, I feel bad for clubs like Southampton, who could arguably be a potentially solid premier league team if they didn't have to sell players like Walcott, Bale and now maybe that Chamberlain kid. Other teams, such as West-Ham would still have players like Lampard, J.Cole, Defoe, Carrick, Ferdinand, G.Johnson etc. Don't know why, but this topic always intrigues me. So out of all currently active players, what teams would be fighting in the top of the league today if the players never were transfered? Drop his basic wages so they fit with the structure, and add performance based bonuses so he could make the same as he does now if he performs consistently. I don't think he would drop his wages out of love for the club, especially the way he is performing these days, and I can't really blame him for that. This could be a good middle ground for player and club.
