  1. Nothing wrong with his shooting or end product....until Bruce. After Bruce it's magically back.
  2. Simply not true. He scored throughout the season and think he was our top scorer in pre-season. He scored regularly in the MLS before he came here with quite a few shots similar to the one yesterday and showed good signs under Rafa. It's really only the Bruce era.
  3. 3 points off 4th, second best GD.
  4. Refs mic looks like a Hitler moustache from some angles
  5. Insane how inconsistent Brighton can be. Villa doing what they want.

Did well I thought. The sub was probably planned pre-match.

    Jamaal Lascelles

The last two years there's always been people who's been saying they are worried when they see him in the side, but I can't remember him letting us down even once since Howe came in.
  8. I'll take a Dummett start any day of the week to see Livramento, Hall and Miley getting a chance.
  9. Shouldn't really matter if he's not going to play any of his regular starters.

    Harvey Barnes

People shoehorning him into their imaginary FM line-ups to have both him and Wilson playing at the same time is getting incredibly boring. It'll be a fun meme in 10 years time though.

    Nick Pope

I don't know anything about the newly promoted teams keepers, but out of the other regularly starting keepers in the league Pope is comfortably the worst of the lot with his feet. Having a keeper you're comfortable passing the ball to is so important when so many teams uses high pressing. We lose possession often due to having to aimlessly lump the ball up top when pressed instead of playing it to the keeper (which admittedly is the better option for us considering how crap Pope is at controlling the ball with his feet). As far as first team improvement goes, getting a ball playing keeper (is that a term? )would be one of the most transformational signings we could make at the moment. Difficult to fine one who is even close to Pope in all other aspects though.
  12. There were two situations where Trippier lost their winger/wing back and a dodgy Pope pass. Had nothing to do with our system. Besides that we were in full control for the entire game. Remember that Sheffield United will have been preparing specifically for us for an entire week, and they know they have to rely on discipline and working harder than us to get a result due to lack of quality, so until we manage to break them down and spoil their initial game plan it'll be a tight game. If only we could start every game with a 3-0 lead.
  13. That midfield wouldn't look out of place against the bottom teams in this league imo. Saying that as a compliment. Got a good balance to it. Would love to see them play together if we were to get a lower league team in one of the domestic cups.

Not taking anything away from him, but a 10 would most likely not get so much time on the ball. He can get into these positions as the opposition has no clue who should press him. That's in part why he's so great - that he has the skill and confidence to go on these runs. I've no doubt he'd have scored if he had taken the shot instead either
  15. He's not serious, for those who think the second coming of Steven Crowder just spawned in one post.
  16. tbf they seem to find more amusement in Tom Davies header for Isaks goal & Gylfi Sigurdsson for some reason. https://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/threads/news-of-ex-players.86130/page-240
  17. Mentioned it already in match thread and Gordon thread, but he was integral for Gordons goal as well with his run that pulled the player who was best positioned to block Gordons shot out of position. Edit: and he started the move for Wilsons goal.
  18. (Rightly?) received man of the match. I was a bit skeptical when we first signed him due to his ratishness & antics towards the end of his Everton career, and certainly didn't help himself when he spat his dummy out for being subbed that time. How things have changed since then. Immensely impressed with his attitude and performances since. He's won me over. Shoutout to Burn too for his run that dragged the defender who could have blocked his shot out of position.
