  1. 15 between them would be my best guess, having thought about it.
  2. On the other hand, Williamson and MYM would be my pick for the CB pairing this season. Disgusting as that sounds.
  3. There seems to be a few players who fall into that category eg Abeid, Bigi, MYM, where the belief seems to be that they'd become better players under a better manager. As I say, that seems to be based on hope rather than any evidence on the field. And here we have one who clearly didn't see one of our best runs last season when MYM and Williamson played together. They played together for the wins against a totally non-scoring AVB Spurs and Chelsea if memory serves. Not sure I'd call 2 games a 'run'.
  4. Not as much as it would hurt you to see Ireland qualify Just another foreign country to us. No different from any other. You can't say the same about us. Not another foreign country to Ronaldo, he fucking hates Ireland I'm fairly sure you're flattering yourself somewhat there I'm not and I'd say he would probably admit he hates Ireland or at least has a dislike for Ireland I'm a proud Brit and obviously react to anti-British nonsense from the Irish but I really don't dislike Ireland more than any other European country. I love Father Ted too and some of that was actually filmed in Ireland, so goes the rumour.
  5. Nah, it's always great fun watching Ireland when they qualify.
  6. Can the players brought in replace the goals and assists of Cabaye & Remy? That's 21 goals and at least 4 assists. Think we'll struggle for goals again without a new striker. I'd take only 1 good striker as the last of our dealings. CM / Widemen we can get by on and finish top half with a 15 goal striker. 21 goals from De Jong, Cabella & Riviere is realistic. 10-15 I would say. We need a striker.
  7. Depends where he plays before the next MLS season starts, but I can see him playing a few more games for England. What. At. Bowls?
  8. It must hurt you, that.
  9. Depends where he plays before the next MLS season starts, but I can see him playing a few more games for England. Think he's meant to join David Villa at Melbourne City until January I hope he doesn't.

  11. Probably the right thing for the player. Not for us, obviously.

    3-5-2

At home with 2 decent wide players and a strong attacker of the ball or two it's a very good system. Both visually and in terms of effectiveness. Pardew's version is basically two defensive banks of 4 with the strikers helping to graft.

It's more the manager, than any formation. With a different manager I would go with a 4-2-3-1 though, aye. I hate that formation too, mind. Negative and narrow. It's the kind of setup that has you scraping 1-0 wins away from home but failing to excite in front of your own supporters.

Nah. It never works and we certainly don't have the players for it.
  15. Hernandez is a better footballer than Owen. Not quite as clinical/instinctive but a fine footballer and dangerous striker.
  16. Why is it a shame? Pisshead footballer who shit on his hometown club at the first opportunity possible. Beggars belief how people still fawn over Carroll. Being sold for big money from a club who make it clear they want you to leave doesn't constitute shitting on anything.
  17. Petre Shilton always looked tubby and it didn't stop him being a good keeper. Elliott has a hell of a way to go to beat off Neville Southall to the fat keeper crown. Not even sure he's less dainty than a Mike Hooper to be fair to the lad. Pretty certain that Shilton and Southall would've been better if they weren't fat. Peter Shilton was fat?

    Loïc Remy

Probably when you stop saying it.

    Loïc Remy

I think Arsenal finally drop out of the CL spots this season. Think both Manchester clubs, Chelsea and Liverpool leave them behind.
  20. Yep - I would say that Nolan was a fair bit more overweight than HBA. I'd also say that Nolan's weight issues were often discussed and criticised on here. That's not my point - my point is whether Nolan was fined by the club for it and it was used as a reason not to pick him. The answer to that is that it wasn't. That was my point as well. It never seemed to be an issue with the club although the fans regularly discussed it (as do West Ham fans). Nolan, as much as I was never much of a fan, has a much bigger frame naturally than Hatem. He was captain, leading goalscorer for most of his time here and basically ran the first team prior to Pardew coming in.
