We need a striker, desperately. Someone to push teams back with pace, put pressure on off the ball and serve as an outlet. Nothing we didn’t know.

He was a class act and under the right manager would’ve been a massive success.
-
Odd how much out fanbase has changed. If Kluivert signed for us last season and got 13 goals under Steve Bruce he’d be a bonafide cult hero. Graeme Souness sacked him off in 2005 so he must be a flop.
-
Keith Stroud that was.
-
Frenchman who wore no. 32.
-
He’s shown great form in the Championship twice before this, to be fair. Nothing new that he’s very good in that league.
-
3-2 vs Barca - how could I forget that? The one and only game I went to with my grandad who had my dad’s season ticket. Amazing night.
-
Feyenoord away was the greatest night of my life. Up until then at least.
-
He’s got a lot of things going for him that you can’t teach. Intimidating that we haven’t seen anything like his best yet.
-
Got to give him a new 2-year deal at a minimum. He’s not perfect but he’s our best CB at present and the only one who can play a bit of football.
-
Especially considering the 2 mongs who managed us that season. Distinct lack of creativity in the side also.
-
I just love Papiss. Kinda wish we’d had him at a different time.
-
Teams with nowt play for, end of the season. I’d feel a lot more comfortable if we can get to 41 in the next 3 games.
-
Someone could easily go down with 40 points this season. We need a minimum of 2 wins and 2 draws to be absolutely safe.
-
Didn’t Robert have the highest percentage of free kicks scored in PL history? Just Shearer being Shearer - pretty much all about himself unfortunately. Surprised Bruce didn’t make his list.

Captain Steak Bakes (now managing Blackpool/revising history)

The spell at West Brom ended Pardew. Let’s hope history repeats. -
His overall record there is better than 1 in 3. 14 in 30 wasn’t bad going in 18-19.
-
Willson was slightly better than a 1 in 3 striker at Bournemouth. His record is slightly better than that here.
-
Or he’s just poor because he’s a dinosaur of a striker. His limited skill set will only ever look half decent in a restive, cynical and direct setup. I’m not sure why proponents of playing modern football on here and elsewhere have given him a free pass for so long.
-
In terms of talent that wins games, Robert had more in his Y-fronts. I loved Hatem, but come on.
-
It’s just a bit bizarre. £100m to spend, your only PL standard striker is made of glass and we buy Chris Wood for a ludicrous fee. I hope Howe realises what a daft mistake that was.
-
I’d rather we signed a PL standard striker in January. But yes, I’d probably have more confidence in Gayle getting goals and stretching teams than Wood. Neither are fit for purpose, obviously.
