I'm sure he said he wanted him to stay, but let him go cos he wanted first team football.
-
But they’re shit regardless of whether he says it, so don’t see how saying it is a sackable offence. In fact it’s v important for a manager to recognise when they’re shit - I’m much more worried when they seem to not see it. That said, don’t know if it’s a good strategy for motivating players.

I don’t think there was a lot, but I thought I heard a few boos. So many left early, I don’t understand it. I feel like I never meet people who’d admit to doing it but so many do it. Do these people, like me, not love the satisfaction of making other teams fans do it? Can’t really rip the piss out of them when you do it yourself. different if you’re trying to send a message - eg could get under Bruce and Ashley - but now?

Turned my weekend around after yesterdays defeat

Seemed better from my vantage in the Leazes too

I don’t buy that anyone was disinterested. Just shit and/or tired

Love it but I think gun celebrations are too common to associate with Isak

What time's ko?

I'd probably downgrade Wood to a neither (team did well with him in it, recouped fee, but I'm sure we'd have wanted more goals for what we paid), and put Ashby as a TBD. Can't see Ashby being an NUFC player but maybe still potentially will be alright as a sell-on.

Have people on the pitch ala Sam Fender. Match played in Longbenton and put on a big screen.

What were the odds on Manchester having a combined average position of 10.5 in the second half of the season. Even in a live table. Anyone have it on?

Newcastle United vs. Bournemouth: 18/01/25 @ 12:30 (TNT Sports)

That 1-0 on the Road to Wembley, where we won with an own goal, is one of the most boring games I can remember being at -
We actually lifted Ipswich out of the relegation zone without them even playing. Can’t shake off being involved.
-
I thought it was particularly bad. Started similar to West Ham but obviously without the negative turn. I proper cringed when Bruno and Isak were pumping up the crowd after goals (not at them), felt a bit like when a band lets the crowd sing but it’s a posh festival and no one sings back. Wolves fans were quiet too. Obviously fair enough for later in game, but not much at start either.

The good thing is we've opened up a really nice gap on Tottenham and ManU - we weren't far off them that long ago, and they both seemed like teams that could turn it around eventually. Even with improved form they shouldn't be catching us now. Bournemouth got to hope don't have the depth to last the season. I think I'm quite confident of top 7 now but top 4/5 will require maintaining some proper good form. Hopefully Forest eventually (!) start to falter enough at least for us to catch them. Chelsea seem more fallible than before. But Man City could always turn it back on, and Villa impressive.

Is there much of an Eritrean/East African community around there?

Came to post about that - don't remember seeing that before.

5live again talking about Isak scoring then straight to Arsenal buying him. They're fucking 5 points ahead of us man, fuck off.
-
I was disappointed there didn't seem to be anything coming from the corner pre-game/at the start of the game. The corner is obviously the best part of the ground, so don't want to criticise the people there, but since it's the closest thing we have to a singing section and can influence the wider ground, I hope for more. Good on Heron.

They're 18th *because* Isak put them to the sword. Isak's two goals damaged their goal difference enough to put them in the relegation zone.

Newcastle United 3-0 Wolverhampton Wanderers - 15/01/2025

Totally. ---- Good routine win, never in doubt really. Shame the atmosphere was so flat from the very start. wtf happened to our defence the last 15 mins Wolves could've had it at 3-3 by the end Fuckin VAR man, state of it for both goals. Good on Wolves fans singing 'fuck VAR' even when it was potentially benefitting them, shame we didn't return it. Loving the Isak, Gordon combo firing game after game -
I'm undecided but people seem to be missing KI's point, which seems a good one. Of course all going up helps the club spend, but from that graph - we could have the largest matchday revenue in the league and wouldn't even go up one place in that ranking. Commercial seems to be the game changer, the overall ranking for the top 6 mirrors the commerical ranking - and looking at Liverpool and Chelsea that doesn't seem to hinge on a modern stadium. (Btw do any of us want a stadium with a thick band of corporate seats/boxes around 3/4 of the stadium like at Spurs? I certainly don't).
