  1. Thought he and Miley were one of the only two that looked capable of stringing a pass together tbh. Probably 9 or so worse players on the pitch for us than Ramsey.

Great that you've completely cemented your valuation and assessment of him with such certainty after seeing him once.

For as unimpressed I was with Ramsey yesterday, he absolutely needs regular minutes to get up to speed before really knowing if he's a fit for us or not, which he will get over the next month or so. Some of the things that he did wrong can be attributed to not being fully in sync with our passages of play yet etc. and some of his passing was sloppy, which you presume/hope he'll iron out with game time. He nearly had an assist, and linked up play reasonably well at times (e.g. he played his part in the Gordon shot that hit the post), so certainly wasn't all negative. The biggest concern is he does look a bit lightweight, and every time he goes down there's concern he's injured. He writhes around like he's dying, and if he's genuinely feeling that level of pain in the moment that he reacts that way, then there's a line of thought that his injuries have fucked his mentality and he doesn't have the desire to ride out the knocks. I really liked what I saw in his first appearance for us, but was less impressed yesterday. He needs more of a sample set to really judge him. Edit - watching the highlights back he was also important in most of our first half chances.

My favourite thing from his cameo yesterday was his off the ball run through the middle, screaming and pointing for the ball (which he didn't get). We've badly missed that this season.

    Tino Livramento

Not to say I thought Liv didn't have a good game, mind.

I thought Grealish created a fair amount of space down our right side in the first 20-30 or so. Whilst never really coming to anything it felt like their best chance for a goal was that side.
  7. That was a foundation building 7.5 I'd say. He needed a game like that to [hopefully] start some momentum.

    Sven Botman

Dispossessed 0 times and made 23/26 passes yesterday. Can see how that might equate to giving the ball away nearly every time. He's clearly actively instructed to make high risk, line breaking passes. Not all will come off but the pro's significantly outweigh the cons for him. He's first choice cb for me, with Thiaw's excellent start for us beginning to nail him down as the other first choice.
  9. I just remembered that wide shot from Tonali. If he lifts that just a little bit more it's a goal of the season contender. Absolutely insane technique.
  10. I thought he was better, yes, but sounds a bit divisive based on comments on here. Was unlucky not to score, did everything right but the defender made a good block. Made some positive link ups to varying success, stuck in a few crosses to varying success.
  11. It's ridiculous though - if you can see fabric being pulled then it should be a foul. It would soon stop if they took a binary approach. The rules currently essentially encourage it.
  12. I just don't understand how shirt pulling isn't a binary decision from the ref. Was the shirt pulled - yes? Foul!

    Joelinton

I thought he was quietly quite good today. For 70 odd minutes we were littered with unforced errors across the team, but can't recall him making any, and he largely ticked things over and did his share of the donkey work effectively. It wasn't his explosive best by any stretch but he was a good 7-7.5 for me. I am concerned however that his physical style of play is catching up with him and the niggly injuries will still to pile up.
  14. Nailing the colours to the lesser evil today, I'd not be disappointed to see Man Utd batter Liverpool

    Ludwig Kaiser booked.
  16. Collectively we all always rated that Kelleher.

    Alan Shearer

He comes across like he's doing a bit, a lot of the time to me.
  18. I don't think Isak has even touched the ball yet has he?

    Nick Woltemade

    Lush technique from Murphy.
  20. I think it's fair to say that currently you can disqualify Spurs from my sweeping statement
  21. It does feel like whenever one of the "big 6" concede a significant goal, VAR is used to desperately find something to disallow it.

    Harvey Barnes

He is struggling at the moment. I've always quite liked him, and he's had his good moments, but overall it's beginning to feel like it might not quite work out for him here. Today in particular felt like one of those days where simply nothing went as intended for him.
  23. He's offered a lot IMO, just ether questionable or not quite synchronised end product thus far.
