It felt like he was quite careful and deliberate in his wording. I'm sure he said he thought it was a red whilst pointing out that Diaz head moved forward too, leading you to join the dots on what he thought the overall decision should have been.

I thought he had a good game, but he was used very little, to a very noticeable degree, particularly given how high up the pitch he was a lot of the time. Perhaps he was largely employed to ensure Serbia were forced deep and to free up space for the attacking players. Foden certainly took up a far more central position as a result of Trippier's position.

If anyone's kind enough to summarise for someone that's largely stayed out of the loop on recent FFP related activity, how are we generally looking heading into the summer in terms of our spending capability?

I thought Schar was a shout for man of the match his positioning and composure was pretty spot on all game.

That along with it being blatantly obvious he didn't realise he'd already booked Gordon before his second yellow just has the optics of a ref that's not particularly in control.

Letting the game continue when it's still in play under those circumstances is one thing, but allowing a quick free kick when the ball is out of play and a man is down is another. Doesn't really sit right. Did he even check on Schar?

I don't think I can disagree with that observation any more. Bruno has largely carried the team all season. We'd be beyond fucked if he'd been injured, too.

The commentator on the coverage I watched kept saying that he didn't know much about how it ended up in the goal, which was a huge disservice to how good the finish was. You can clearly see him dig out the shot to ease it past the keeper. Brilliant goal.

It's one of those instance whereby VAR will just back whatever the on-field decision is. Personally, if that was against us I'd be arguing it's a pen. I don't really see any excessive, un-natural movement from Awoniyi to manoeuvre a penalty. Not to mention the Awoniyi looks an absolute lump who probably isn't deft enough to play for one

Funny I thought he was the only player that started for them that did their job effectively. Thought he had a good game.

Is it really a reality check? There's pretty unanimous acknowledgement from the club be it commercial, operational, on field and all in between that we massively over achieved last season.

I genuinely think he's quite crucial to the potency of our attack. His fast line breaking passes often take several players out of the game, giving us way more space to exploit. We're much more middling without him.

From the clips I'd seem prior to his signing, my interpretation was relatively the opposite in that he'd be more effect against the low block due to his tendency to play one-two passes and make direct runs into the box, something I feel would be more successful than a player that tries to dribble through the opposition, as they'll be overcome by the numbers. ASM, for example, sadly isn't overly suited to the play style of a team such as ours that likes to sit a lot higher up the pitch, and therefore has significantly less space in front of them to exploit. Barnes needs to get to know his team mates to build an understanding, after which I think he'll be very productive.

Whilst we're chucking out faves, he might not have been the most prolific or with us all that long, but I loved an in form Big Dunc.

It's a journey and people want to enjoy the ride. The greater expectation will come but for now it's a case of enjoying the novelty for most.

I thought he was pretty fine today but for getting caught on the ball once. He didn't stand out as Tonali did, but was by no means poor.

We've probably seen more in his time with us to suggest it's simply not true. Seems his long term absence and subsequent sporadic appearances have resulted in people writing him off. He was very good in the half season loan with us and if he can recover that form he'll be a valuable player.
