Longstaff certainly isn't playing well this season. His awareness seems to have disappeared.

Newcastle United v Oxford United 25/1/2020 FA Cup 4th round

Out next fixture is in a week; he's had a week's rest, and he's considered fit so why not start him? Sub him off late if we manage to wrap the game up early. I'm happy to see a strong lineup. -
Does anyone really care whether it's a loan or permanent for us these days.
-
Unbelievably bad. Just how are we getting away with this
-
The fuck just happened
-
Joelinton unlucky... ish.
-
Joelinton FFS.
-
Almiron is about the only player that looks capable of taking a decent first touch for us.
-
Matty Longstaff is playing with zero awareness defensively.
-
Don't involve me in the freaks shenanigans

This place is a depressing shadow of what it used to be. I appreciate that the exodus of some of the more respectable, objective regulars is a reflection of the impact a leech of an owner for so many years has had... but Christ there’s so much bickering an shite banter. A hell of a lot of blind faith as well, almost like Ashley has now stayed long enough to see out a generation of football fans so that all that’s left is those that think that what we put out week by week is acceptable because it’s all they know.

He has the highest saves per match in the league. Anyone dealing with the volume of chances he's dealing with is going to be more likely to make mistakes. He's a very good keeper.
-
Dreadful today, even by his standards.
-
Calling us even okay today is an indictment of what we have become. We defended fine, but were absolutely toothless going forward, as always.
-
He had no chance though after a totally shit pass which was a good opportunity on the break. How was it a shit pass. Anyone with half a yard of pace would have been directly in
-
Atsu has been utterly dreadful today, even when measured against his bad performances.
-
Joelinton looks incapable of making even a crisp pass.
-
Ritchie should think himself lucky he's likely to not be able to come on today now.
-
We have so many players that struggle with the basics of football.
-
Whilst I agree, he was critical in our goal and had contributed to our best opportunities.
-
I'm as cynical as everyone else with his signing (although not to the extent that I can't see the contribution he's made so far), but I do need to remind myself every now and then, that the only other player I've experienced equal or more joy from seeing score a goal for us was Shearer. Internal politics aside I'd love to see him have a successful second run with us.
-
I think he's been mostly woeful at this level. He deserves praise for his recent performances though; I can't remember the last time I singled him out as a standout problem.
-
He worked very hard to be fair.
-
Other than stopping when he should have run towards that ball, was he noticeably shitter than anyone else on the pitch? He started pretty well.
-
Yeah it's looking highly unlikely we'll go down at this point. Not by any means a certainty but we're proving effective enough at anti-footballing our opponents that we'll probably survive.
