Whoever that Fernandes is looks decent.
  2. I'm a big fan of Clark; at the moment he's our most dependable defender and can actually play. He's also useful from set pieces and occasionally in open play (although I'm not sure that's a good thing). Regarding his long balls, I do find it frustrating at times but they always look targeted rather than just "cleared" up field - he often finds a man.
  3. I thought he played well today aside from his effort against the keeper which should have been better. I do think his vision has improved, as he played a number of balls that I didn't expect him to play, such as clever switches of play. It doesn't look like he'll ever be a regular 10+ goal a season player unfortunately; his finishing isn't composed enough.
  4. I've gone past being bothered by diving; unless it's completely taken out of the game somehow then I can handle our players doing it.

It's nice to have a pair of centre backs that are handy from corners.

It seems on here that whenever we win a game it's because they've had a bad game or that they're the worst team in the league. It's too soon to get carried away, simply because it's the beginning of the season, but we played well today against a team on a high from a win and a successful close of the transfer window. Happy to just enjoy it and see it as a well executed game plan.

They definitely targeted him in the first half.
  8. Never played in the Premier league has he? Understandable someone his age is likely going to be nervous on his first start.

I thought he was a bit slow in the first half, almost a step behind everyone else, but he had a very good second half. He defended well, and took the ball into space very well. He was always composed and made the right decision most of the time.
  10. Very satisfying win; we defended really well, and whilst being relatively tepid with our efforts, we created the majority of the chances. It looks like we're going to be difficult to beat for the also-rans of the division, which should be enough to keep us competitive, and probably in the division this season.
  11. Sake Anyway, I think he'll need a few games to gain confidence and form. I've seen from highlights that he's more than capable of taking on and beating his man, but he's not been trying to take players on so far, either down to the way we're playing or because he's nervous.
  12. Not disputing the sentiment but that list is slightly misleading since the majority of the players we've rid ourselves of weren't available to us last season, whereas all of the players we've brought in will be in and around the first team.
  13. If we can replace, I'd let him go. I can't help be feel like Gayle will be largely ineffective for us this season.
  14. I must say, I've never taken to Gayle; I just don't like him as a player. If he's not being fed chances and therefore not scoring he offers nothing to the team. That said, it would of course be mental (and typically us) to sell our most reliable/proven goalscorer and not replace him.
  15. I think he's our best defender, as well (without including Lejeune whom I've not seen properly).
  16. I really like him. He's far more technically sound than I expected when we signed him, and has proven to be our most consistent defender. He's often a threat from set pieces, as well. Occasionally plays one too many long balls for my liking, but they're always targeted rather than a hoof up field, at least. I think our main chance against Huddersfield last week came from one.
  17. We're in trouble if we don't bring in a couple of starting quality players. Going to be a very long season.
  18. The one run that Gayle made that could have resulted in a goal for us was woeful.
  19. 2 injuries, a red card and a loss on the first game of the season is pretty catastrophic We looked okay prior to the red. I think it'd have likely ended 1-0 to Spurs without the red. There was enough in the performance to suggest we could be okay, but will reserve judgement until the closure of the window.
  20. Yep, I'd happily see him in the wilderness for a while after that. Inexcusably appalling behaviour.
