However you look at it, Man Utd are sending worrying signals about how they’re being run. It was pointless hiring Ragnick if he was going to bugger off after half a season. Putting a manager in charge of everything doesn’t seem sensible, even if Ten Hag is a long term appointment.

He could be a squad addition TBH, not that expensive and young. I do think Wilson has given them food for thought though, if they’re confident they can manage his fitness.

I think most people in those roles now will be technical, organisation and business focused rather than anything nostalgic or related to moral support for the manager. You’re right about there being gaps for other people though, Ashworth will be assembling a wider team for other aspects of the club, I guess.

Presumably we can afford to subsidise any amount of the wages of anyone we don’t want. We won’t be stuck with anyone. We could even just keep paying them and not have them in the squad, if it came to that. I can’t see incomings being affected by that issue.

My favourite Lucas Torreira also seems to be out of the picture at Arsenal still.

Grealish is class and will be excellent for them IMO. Very few players can take Man City to another level immediately, it’s more about making sure they keep the pipeline going. Maybe Haaland will, but a forward like that is exceptional.

Moving the floor up is pretty important IMO, especially for next season. To look back a few months, it doesn’t matter if you have Wilson up front because you have Richie and Murphy at fullback and that is worth about 1.75 goals against. Without those glaring weaknesses, even ‘decent’ players like Shelvey and Fraser can start to contribute and not have to overturn stupid goals conceded. Guess it’s the same thing at the end of the day, just improve every player

I think the consensus is that Wood turned out to be a poor signing but it’s understandable that we didn’t want to take any chances with another player who we might not get. Like I said above, we don’t have a well oiled and experienced recruitment department yet, and we didn’t have the luxury of time.

This is a funny season in a way. We’ve got our forever-manager and some great signings before we’ve got the underlying structure of the club sorted. Of course you have to do that because you go down without those things. But I guess we’ll have to be patient if superstars don’t arrive as quickly as we might like. There will still be situations like in January, where we think we have a player and the goalposts get moved etc. We don’t have the perfect recruitment machine in place yet.

I’m wavering on it TBH. I think when he have more possession we can probably allow Bruno to be the deeper player and have someone else more creative ahead of him. But then I guess there’ll be games against good teams where we might need extra protection as well.

He (Carlos) could be good or he could rack up pelanties and red cards. Either way have to respect Villa’s work recently. I don’t think Gerrard will be as bad as Lampard either, he seems to have something more about him.
