I want to believe that Pogba is just waiting for a fresh start somewhere to really become a superb player again. He has everything. Not I necessarily want us to buy him or believe the link, but I think it would be interesting.

The Leeds and West Ham thing is a slightly odd point though, Philips and Rice are both excellent players. Maybe not as individually talented as Gerrard/Lampard, but more intelligent and drilled from kids to play their part in this kind of team. Not that any of that is a negative for Southgate. No team can ever say they ‘should’ win an international trophy IMO. It’s so difficult and so much randomness is involved.

Nah, Iwobi had his number straight away, stopping him cutting inside. Hopefully he can start games soon and regain his form. In the last Everton game he looked like he’d reached another level.

Yeah it was. Iwobi hits it OK, but it’s a very predictable shot and not in the corner.

Almiron and Krafth is a horrific right side, that’s really the only thing I could point to. Presumably Shelvey wasn’t fit or well enough to start.

We’ll buy two CMs I think. Hard to say if Shelvey would have helped much. Willock and Joelinton do lead to a lack of structure in the team, but then again today’s game was so frantic and fast that I’m not sure Shelvey would have been able to help that much.

I thought Willock was a passenger, couldn’t keep up with the pace of the game. It was extremely fast TBF.

Yeah, Willock needed to be replaced with Miggy. Very little structure to that midfield. Although have to accept the nature of the game led to a lot of chaotic stuff going on.
