also he was getting left alone with yards of space in the first 6 months of that season. he had all the time in the world to pick a pass, plus we had more mobilty in the side then - even including goufrann. last part of the season the opposition styarted to close him down more and he did less well.

that's why he's much better in a back 3 than in a 2.

bruce was forced to play matty and the loss of shelvey was also a massive bonus. it allowed us to play a lot further up the field.
