  1. That's what I thought mind. its not like Everton didn't play good football under moyes True enough I guess yeah But they have developed a specific style of playing and their stated policy is to recruit managers who fit that system rather than bringing in a manager with a different style. And Moyes definitely does not set up his teams in the Swansea way. But maybe they think that has run its course and want to shake things up.
  2. We have been repeatedly told by the club in the last 4-5 years that we cannot compete and it has become a self-fulfilling prophesy in that everyone associated with NUFC no longer believes we can. I wonder what they think of the likes of Leicester and Bournemouth and indeed many others who have much lesser budgets than ourselves but are are able to compete and at the very least never give up until the final whistle.
  3. He was the only one who ever mentioned Champions League and everyone else just laughed at such a ridiculous notion.
  4. Saints got murdered when they switched to 3 at the back last night with Wanyama in CB. We played 4-4-2 diamond vs. Saints, wouldn't be surprised if we go that route again on Sunday. Depends what the gameplan is. Southampton got hit on the counter while chasing the game so it wasn't only the tactical change which was at fault. Judging us not only on our last two performances but since the start of the season, we definitely need to switch to a more defensive formation and stop the goal haemorrhage. Five at the back is a must. In addition to defending the key to the match will be keeping the ball under pressure. A back five would allow us to stretch the pitch if we can pass the ball in defence. Our CM's will definitely need to take some risk and show movement to break the pressing. That's why I think Wijnaldum or Sissoko should start in midfield despite their lack of defensive abilities. I thought Southampton had taken the lead? Would rather play 4-5-1 and spoil than play 5 at the back as every single time we've tried to play it we've got possed. They did. Mane scored in the first minute.

    Steve McClaren

The media has been having a lot of fun mocking McClaren for the excessive use of the word confidence in his press conference. He keeps going on about how the players don't have confidence because they have lost so many games this year yet he never mentions that he himself is in the same cycle having lost more or less the same number of games when you include Derby. He is very quick to focus everything on the players but he probably needs to look at himself.

    Steve McClaren

You hear that all the time at the moment - that we need stability and to stop sacking managers. Soon forgotten that Pardew was the second-longest serving manager in the Premier League before he left us and that it was his decision to leave.

    Steve McClaren

It is annoying when they speak to ex NUFC players as some kind of expert when they clearly are out of touch with what is going on and anyway, the club has completely changed since his days. However McClaren does not seem to have the "friends" in the media that Pardew has so there is no holding back in ridiculing him where his interviews and his demeanour are concerned.
  8. I see McClaren is calling on the fans to back the team again as they need everyone together. It is not the fans that let the club down but the players and other club personnel.
  9. Was very good in the Championship.
  10. He already has Signed under FS That's not what you said though I am sure I heard that Pearson was the one who leaked stuff to the media when Keegan came back regarding stories of poor tactics and Keegan being out of touch. Absolutely no idea where I got that from though so maybe I dreamt it!!! It just always comes to mind whenever I see him being interviewed and being very antagonistic towards the press.
  11. it's so f***ing stupid an approach it's entirely believable because not one of them know a thing about football And he has been here 8 years or so and still hasn't learnt anything about football.
  12. Interesting that Tamas Kadar said in that Chronicle interview this week that he has not even missed a training session since leaving Newcastle despite being plagued by injury during his last couple of years here.
  13. That's my feeling too, the illness obviously made everything much worse but he was way past his useful life for the team. If he ever had one. Massively respect the guy though, and grateful for his saving goal. I wonder how much Jonas' performances had been affected by his illness. Would he have done better if he was fit and healthy?
  14. So strange what happened to him over the last 2 years after a promising start. I wonder how much that mysterious illness has affected him.
  15. Isn't Vardy injured? Hasn't he pulled out of the England squad? I expect he will have recovered by the weekend though.
  16. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/nov/15/hatem-ben-arfa-france-nice "On Tyneside, a playmaker eventually exiled to the youth squad by Pardew became the symbol of the crowd’s growing discontent with the current Crystal Palace manager’s Tyneside regimen. A giant, highly professional Che Guevara banner – (with Ben Arfa’s face replacing that of the Argentinian Marxist revolutionary) – lovingly hand-stitched by supporters, regularly symbolised such unrest as it billowed in the Gallowgate breeze."
  17. He has serious attitude problems so definitely a downgrade on Perez.
  18. But as that Guardian article says, will he get enough game time at any of those clubs to continue to progress? I would say that is unlikely. The next TV deal is so huge there should no longer be the need to sell any players and if they sell Perez, then our chances of relegation would increase. There is no guarantee that a new player would make an immediate impact and I cannot imagine that we will pick up enough points in the next month to be confident of survival and therefore able to take a gamble with selling key players. To take that risk in this January window especially would be ridiculous. That Guardian article says we would be tempted for 10 x £1.5m but it would be stupid to sell him for anything like that. If he continues to progress at his current rate, he would easily be worth a lot more in a year's time. Prices are only going to inflate even more with the new TV deal so if the interested clubs do make a bid in January it will probably be because they are looking to get him cheaper than they would once that deal is in place. --- I heard a journalist on the radio today saying that the Perez stories are all originating from the North East so whether they are agent-led (perhaps to get a new contract), being fed to the media by the club or being expanded upon by Lee Ryder continuing saying Man Utd are interested on who knows.
  19. I can't see him going in January. We need a striker as it is so if they sold him they would need two and we don't like paying that January premium. And if we are still struggling in January which is likely, then we will struggle to buy a decent replacement. And as Perez is a good player for us, it would be daft to replace him with another who may or may not work out. When they are so young, you would think we could manage to keep them for 3 years or because his value is only going to rise. It always seems as if the press are anxious to move our players on. Do they do this to other team's players? Are there a lot of stories out there trying to sell Leicester's best players to the top teams? Mind you I guess we make it easy for them by letting everyone know that our players are all available at a price.
  20. There have been rumblings that things were not quite right behind the scenes since early in the season. I have read the odd piece where there has been a hint here or there but nothing specific has been said. It was the same with Laudrup and in the end there were some well-founded concerns about him that justified Swansea getting rid.
  21. There are plenty skeletons from before he came up here as well.
  22. Can you imagine the hype if he was English?
  23. Jak Alnwick called him Fred on the radio yesterday.
  24. Think it was a Spurs game that we lost 4-0. We were already 2 down when they came on in the second half and they got blamed for the defeat.
