  1. That is a shame. I’m definitely not on the Miley Hype Train but it’s clear he’s talented. I think lots of us got carried away when he broke through and looked so good against PSG and the like. He’s obviously had some fitness issues since then. He does look a little like he’s grown too big too fast and he hasn’t quite realised he could start to muscle blokes around. Anyway, was very happy to see him looking back like his 17 yr old self the other night. Hope him and his family feel protected by the club.
  2. For me, it's the way Tonali covers the lanes, pressures the ball carrier, reduces the pitch for the ball carrier. We don't ave anyone else who does that even remotely to his standard. Maybe Miley could play alongside Tonali in a double pivot if Bruno's out and we switch to 4231. Wolt as the AM. Anyway, looking forward to seeing Miley develop.
  3. Think Elanga’s mentality will see him do well. He seems very driven and focused on improving. It happens at different rates and is not linear. But that mindset is what makes players better. You can have great coaching but it starts and finishes with the player (imo).
  4. Eddie will know best but I think Botman shades it for me given the mobility Arsenal have. If it’s Burn, I’m sure he’ll do well. Think Thiaw will play as I think Schar needs more post concussion rest, no?
  5. Seemed like they’d been instructed to take no more than 3 touches on the ball. Looked really good as a result. Didn’t always come off but the threat it poses keeps the opposition very defensive minded. Hope we see more of that against better opponents. Tonali would love that, he’s built for that.
  6. Interesting to see him move off his wing into a central position so much. Had some nice ideas and touches. Allowed Hall the space on the left too. Would work well with JL covering the space.
  7. He hasn’t shown anywhere near enough bite to play a 6 in the Prem. If it’s the Pirlo role of stroking it about but not tackling anyone he’ll be great. To play that position in the Prem he’s gonna have to get stuck in and be physical and win the ball. Hopefully that will come, if he’s got the bloody minded competitiveness then he has the frame to make it happen. Very very good technique on the ball, nice 1st touch, vision and pings the ball very well. The Carrick comparisons are good, it’s not just his height it’s the way he moves the ball (last night at least). Lets see.
  8. Yeah, glad he got valuable minutes. Not sure when his next start is though….
  9. Thought he was really good for most of it. Can't ignore the f**k up for the goal, it was an extremely poor decision and then the pass was poorly executed too. But so much of his game was top. Forward looking, progressive, covered the ground well. Be nice if he used his strength. Hope he builds on this and gets better and better.

    Lewis Hall

I thought as the game wore on and their physicality tapered off, his better technique start to shine through a bit more. Very happy to see him back and look forward to him contributing through the season.

    Dan Burn

He finished extremely well. He did get run past with considerable ease a couple of times iirc. He has a great ability to make adjustments and shore up. It’s apparent to me he has reasonable pace when he’s actually going. It’s those first couple of steps, especially if on the turn.
  12. You can see what a difference he makes. The drop off from him is really significant. If we had someone who could do a decent job at 6 then we could at try Tonali a little further forward to see if he can open up defences a little.
  13. Burn got run around like he was fixed to the floor once or twice. Had me worried. He does seem to sort it out though as the game progresses. Experienced and intelligent. Botman was a clear level above today. Thiaw has one bad moment. He was already on a yellow which is what is making everyone’s arse twitch. Other than that I thought he looked a good acquisition but not spectacular.

    Sven Botman

Liverpool will be sniffing around him if we don’t get his contract sorted.

    Nick Woltemade

Wissa at LWF will hopefully mean Woltemade coming deep will actually have some effect. We need goal threat from the wide forwards. I’m very much hoping that’s Wissa. The other options don’t have the necessary technique imo. Gordon has work rate but he’s not a great footballer.

    Joe Willock

Kind of agree with the 1st sentence. Disagree with the 2nd.

    Sven Botman

Best defender on the pitch by a mile.

    Malick Thiaw

That last foul aside I thought he looked decent. Good prospect.
  19. Botman and Tonali were excellent. Woltemade was decent. Everyone else was very meh. Hall needed the minutes. Special mention to Murphy, Willock, Barnes and Elanga. Thought they devoid of creativity and skill. Can run a bit but offered nothing else. Hope Elanga improves.
  20. I would like to think Bournemouth is a level of opposition that Barnes can actually cause some problems.

    Joelinton

I imagine Chelsea will want overpaying to let him go.

    Joelinton

Think we’ve missed the boat on Ederson. Too many clubs got their eye on him. We need to get the next iteration.
