I don't see how anyone could possibly disagree with that, Chez. Too many players who just aren't good enough - Smith, Duff, Barton (although in his case, he probably is good enough, but his fucked up personality has wrecked it), Carr, Ameobi. Even Taylor has never really impressed me. It is all very well people laying into Keegan (I mean national press as much as anyone), but I don't see how anyone else could really do any better with the players at his disposal. Even the dependables like Given are looking dodgy. As an outsider (disclaimers apply, I don't watch you every week), I fail to see the point in sacking Allardyce and appointing Keegan halfway through the January window. It means Keegan gets the shit storm of a dismal second half to the season where he's working with someone else's duff squad. If I was going to place a bet on the success or not of Keegan's return, I'd always bet on failure, I just think these emotional returns never really work, but the fact that he has started when he has, and with the squad he has, with such a level of demoralisation makes it almost impossible for him to succeed. I'm just surprised Ashley wasn't savvy enough to foresee that.

More s*** stirring. Barton hardly jumped on Maloney and mauled him to the ground. It was a 50/50 tussle that happens all the time but since we're Newcastle United and he's on bail charges, it's suddenly esculated to GBH. f****** fuck-wits. It looked a bit like he threw a punch to me, to be honest.

He might base it on what Keegan did to our form when he was here last time, he might base it on the transfer record of Keegan when last here. He might base it on the way we've tried to play recently and the fact that he'll (Keegan) have time during the next couple of weeks to work with the players, and get to know those who he's hardly been able to work with so far. Although I thought you were overall at best average in the first half (better than us, mind), for all the wailing and gnashing of teeth on here, one thing I did think during that half was that you were showing distinct signs of being organised and trying to play decent football. The bloke who sits behind me (miserable cunt, it must be said) was screaming about "they're trying to play football, we're hoofing it", and he had a point, I thought you passed the ball around quite well in the first half. There didn't seem to be any outlet for it up front, but although a 4-1 defeat is never a good result, there were some signs of better things to come in the performance, i thought.

I have to say, I agree, he looks tired and stressed to fuck every time he is on the telly. I'd also agree with 1878 about Allardyce, although I acknowledge that that is very easy to say when I didn't have to sit through his football.

Pat Heard has a European Cup winners medal. How weird is that?

ffs, we we're the best team by a good margin 1st half it was a case of Villa taking the entire 1st half to get going..once they did it was a familiar theme, we lost shape, belief and were cluecless As I said earlier, the first half was as bad as I have seen us play since MON joined the club, we were toilet. I thought you actually showed signs of starting a decent passing game at times. What shocked me was the way you imploded so easily. I don;t want to underestimate the fact that MON changed the game with his substitutions and HT talk - he did - but you looked in the first half like you'd give us a game in the second.
-
I thought he was by some distance your best player today.
-
I thought Harper was good today - made two excellent saves from Gardener in the space of two minutes, harsh to blame him for the third, it was the defence not clearing it in the first place that was to blame.
-
Incidentally, Smith really was as poor as you've made out on here all season, but I thought Duff was even worse.
-
Villa fans were pretty shite untill 3-1 tbh. Our support was dead until the equaliser. Yours was pretty good after the goal (well, it would be, wouldn't it) - probably behind Man U as the loudest this season. We were incredibly nervous after the shit run of performances we have had, but after the equaliser it was pretty good.

No, I never EVER boo my side, regardless of what happens, and have got into trouble having a go at people who do

Incidentally, before the game I was walking around the Trinity Road and was surprised to see Mike Ashley and Chris Mort heading towards me. Not knowing what to do, I stuck my hand out and shook his hand. Seems a nice bloke Loads of our fans recognised him and were getting photos taken with him, and he was all smiles and very friendly indeed. Nice, down to earth chap. Hats off.

Hello. Just back from the match. The first half today we were utterly, utterly woeful, really terrible, Petrov drifting into the centre all the time, Mellberg having the worst game I've ever seen him have for us, just awful. Thought you looked solid without really threatening, some of your passing was nice. Half time, us rubbish, you average. Hats off to MON, though, for totally turning it around in the second half, I thought we were excellent in spells. Harewood was superb (jesus, can't believe I'm saying that), the midfield looked infinitely more balanced without Petrov.

I think I'll start watching non league football if this charade goes ahead. It is bad enough getting bumraped year on year by Sky, the FA et al; getting TOLD you are going to be bumraped and bending over and spreading your legs for it is a totally different. Fuck that.

Who has put the money in? And why have they put the money in? Have they not done so because they know they'll take a lot more out?
-
Is this the same money men who've pumped millions into the sport? The unpalatable truth is that when they're paying the piper, they can call the tune. You nor I have any say in the matter whatsoever. Of course we dont have any say, what hurts is this overt admission that, not only do we have no sway with them, we actually don't even matter any more.

This season we are really getting our act together re attendances and starting to show our potential. 12.45 ko, not particularly glam fixture (sorry, but you know what I mean), live on the telly, sold out just under 43k. I know sell outs have become second nature for you lot over recent years, but finally, FINALLY, we've got bright owners who have stopped us being run like a fucking corner shop, and know exactly how to drag our support out of the coma it has been in for the last 15 years. Everything is so shiny and nice at the moment. Anyway, 1-1 draw I reckon, dull as shit match.

Call me cynical, but does this not favour the 'big four' disproportionately? For an illustration of why, look at Manchester United's bench this weekend, then look at Newcastle, Villa or Everton's. Then imagine who the next two subs would be for the latter three clubs, and who they would be for Man United.
-
How about just playing PL competitive matches in England? Don't they make enough money as it is? When does it stop? Have no doubt, this is very much the thin end of the wedge.
-
Have no doubt, there are only four clubs who will really benefit from this.
-
Fucking disgrace. Playing one team three times in a season? Fucking money grabbing lizards. That'll be the end for me, I'm afraid, I'm not going to carry on giving them my money to get bummed in the face because they want to market themselves in Kuala Lumpur. Incidentally, don't kid yourselves about 'consideration', this WILL happen. Scudamore has already openly said the fans in the far east are in many ways 'the real fans'.
-
Salifou is a fair way off being ready to start a PL game, tbh. I suspect.

This is the problem of modern football. Players earn shitloads everywhere, so the financial aspect doesn't matter. ALL clubs have shit loads of money, so don't need to sell. Unless you are moving to an established CL team, there is really very little point in moving, sit tight until you DO get an offer from Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool. That's what I'd do if i were Bentley, and that is exactly what I bet he does.
