Chelsea vs Newcastle United - 8/02/14 @ 15:00 (No TV)

Santon on the left wing I assume. It's not like he's even good at whipping crosses in. At least Shola isn't starting. -
Players developed by other clubs end up costing millions of pounds. Surely it makes financial sense for Ashley to spend money on a decent youth set up and coaches in the hope that it will save the club (and therefore him) money in the long run. The £35m for Andy Carroll shows how spectacularly it can pay off sometimes.

Gaël Bigirimana rejoins Coventry on a permanent basis
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to Fenham Mag's topic in Football
These players are better out on loan playing competitive games than sitting on our bench (if they're lucky). I read that we tried to loan out Bigirimana but no Championship club wanted him and NUFC didn't want to loan him to a League 1 club. He currently has a foot/ankle injury according to: - http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/epl_injury_table.php After regularly starting games at the beginning of Ferguson's loan to Birmingham City he now comes off the bench now and again. I would have thought NUFC would have recalled him if they thought he was being wasted by Birmingham. Maybe he's just not good enough? Tavernier seems to be doing well in League 1 but Vučkić doesn't seem to be doing that well. The ideal scenario with our young players would be to get them out on loan to other clubs as early as possible. NUFC need other clubs to want to loan them though. Armstrong will hopefully go out on loan next season. -
We all know we wont, hy journos dont pull him up on this I dont know. If NUFC don't sign quite a few decent players in the Summer there is a good chance we'll be relegated again. Cisse will be our only contracted out and out striker. Gosling and Shola will be leaving (Shola will not be getting a new contract). NUFC will also be trying to move on most of the players we have out on loan as they won't want most of them back (e.g. Gutierrez, Amalfitano, Ferguson and Vuckic). Mike Ashley won't want another relegation. It would be cheaper for him to spend £70m on players and wages for a year than what relegation would cost him. Obviously he won't spend £70m but he absolutely has to spend a decent amount to protect our Premiership status (which seems to be the only thing he's bothered about when it comes to NUFC).

http://www.nufc.com/ I can see Gosling playing. After his loan at Blackpool he has got a lot more match fitness than de Jong or Marveaux. I imagine we would have tried to "park the bus" but with Tiote out Anita is our only fit defensive midfielder. -
It was unbelievable when Kinnear got the Director of Football role. Most people didn't believe it was true when they heard about it. My only fear with him leaving is who will Mike Ashley appoint next? Usually when we think it would be impossible for him to pick a worse person for a job he stuns us all and manages it.

The problem is that cancellation emails will be read by one of the box office people (I think I read NUFC only have 8 box office staff). The box office staff will cancel the season ticket as requested. The reasons people have given for cancelling are unlikely to be passed up the chain of command.
-
The email to cancel my season ticket was written ready to send in January 2013. The hope I got from the new signings and beating Aston Villa made me not send it. I'd left the cancellation email in my Draft emails for a year. After bringing no players in and then the sale of Cabaye I gave it a day or two to see if Cabaye would be replaced. I then finally sent the cancellation email on Tuesday the 28th of January. My 'gamble' that no players would be bought turned out to be true. I can't say I'm regretting the decision to cancel, especially after today. If in the future the owners of NUFC become interested in more than just Premier League survival I can always buy another season ticket.

Well, the January transfer window has been a failure (unless de Jong turns out really well). The Summer transfer window is going to be hard work. The number of players leaving and the number of players the club don't want any more is high. Trying to get players during a World Cup Summer transfer window is never easy. Players playing in the World Cup tend to go on holiday afterwards so there's even less time to sort out their transfer. http://www.themag.co.uk/the-mag-articles/pardew-got-build-another-team-summer-jfk-plan-buy-1-2-players-season-newcastle-united-squad/
-
If NUFC fail to buy anyone to replace Cabaye I hope they are still open to the option of loans. In a World Cup year there must be loads of players at the top teams who aren't getting enough game time who will be agitating for a move.

If De Jong started the crowd would get a lift from a new player and they'd also give him the extra support new players tend to get on their début. -
We could sign a pre-contract agreement with Gomis to sign in the Summer just to spite Lyon.

Double Jeopardy means if you get tried for an assault on John Smith in the library, with the candlestick on the 12th of October and get found innocent, they can't put you on trial for the assault on John Smith in the library, with the candlestick on the 12th of October again. It doesn't mean if you get tried for the assault they can't try you for chinning him on a separate occasion, or chinning someone else entirely, just because you've already had a trial for assault. Although that would be pretty good I wasn't being entirely serious. My point was Remy's getting done for head butting Bradley Johnson. As Remy didn't actually head butt Bradley Johnson but has been found guilty of head butting him he should at least be allowed to actually head butt him.

So which out of form striker would you start with on Saturday? Shola who hasn't scored in the Premiership for over a year. Cisse who scored in the FA Cup against Cardiff and a penalty against Stoke in the Premiership (that's if he recovers from his reported back injury). De Jong who has played something like 72 minutes of competitive football this season. I'd probably start Cisse if he's fit. -
Same old s*** from the FA. Bradley Johnson "raised his hands" first by aggressively shoving Remy (after fouling and kicking him). I thought "raising your hands" wasn't allowed? Remy should be allowed to headbutt Bradley Johnson using the double jeopardy defence ("a procedural defence that forbids a defendant from being tried again on the same charges"). Remy has already been punished for the 'crime' so he may as well commit it. This time Remy can actually headbutt Bradley Johnson and Johnson won't have to pretend this time either.

It's official that there is an option to make the signing permanent: - http://www.nufc.co.uk/articles/20140129/newcastle-complete-de-jong-capture_2281670_3644177 Hopefully he does the business, for both parties sakes. He seemed to score a lot of headed goals in the youtube videos from his time in the Netherlands. We could do with someone who provides a goal threat from corners.

Aye, it was a very poor hit. But is it just me who thought that the ball bounced a bit weird almost as if the ball hit a harder part of the pitch? The movement of the ball looked a bit odd. Still should have done a lot better. It's easy to say with hindsight but he even had time to take a touch. There were no Norwich players near him. It's extra annoying when it would have more than likely won us the game.

By and large he may have played well but that awful miss is impossible to over look.
