I had this on an earlier thread, but since nobody read it

I'm sorry Kaka but that complete nonsense, once again, of course we will be looking at players with a proven record at this level and we'll have the cash to buy them, I'm sure about that. Looking at League 1 players makes no bloody sense whatsover. i'm with afar on this one - the average wage bill for the CCC is 9m or something and they papers (i know) reckon we'll attempt to maintain a 40m wage bill for a season to try and go up we'll be the biggest hitters down there by far and with the sales of martins & bassong, plus peanuts adding up from the likes of smith, shola or whoever else we ship there should be money to spend on new players from the CCC we need to buy players who aren't only gonna exist for a season, i.e. some scrappers who get us up who we've then got to offload to replace with PL players this is why loans are key for me, spend what money we have wisely getting the best players down there who have the potential to improve then flesh out the squad with loans all depends on fat mike though i suppose League One, here we come!

Good. Sounds positive to me. Actually reading the god damn fine print has been a skill woefully absent for most in this club for a while now.

Like we're talking about f***ing Mourinho here It's not a matter of Shearer's ability. The fallout if Ashley manages to alienate not just one but TWO legends will be unbelievable. He'll shit his pants and try to sell again, fail, and we're headed to a nice mid-table finish in the Championship.
-
Jesus christ if they fuck this up and lose Shearer that's really the end for this club.

It's great that Man U lost but man, Park had such a bad game
-
Man United are so bad today I don't even have the slightest fear that they'll somehow come back and nick it at the last minute like the jammy fuckers they are.
-
Messi. Header. Goodbye Man U

Come on people. Harper is more than good enough for the Championship. Seriously, look at some of the keepers who are doing just fine in the division. As for Krul, I'm sure he's a fine prospect but ultimately we have absolutely no evidence that he's ready for first team football other than 90 fantastic minutes against Palermo three years ago. He should have to prove himself like everyone else. We can't just knee-jerk and throw him in over Harper just because he's become everybody's new favorite scapegoat. I'm all for giving him the Cup games regardless of opposition next season, but Harper keeps the number 1 shirt by default unless Krul has an bsolutely mindblowing pre-season.

I don't remember ever seeing Man United raped this badly. I feel like they should be wearing black and white stripes.

Jonas could really, honestly want to stay but it doesn't matter in the end because he just can't at this point in his career. He NEEDS a move to a top flight club to show his worth and make the 2010 World Cup. The fact that Maradona has kept him in the squad for this long shows that he has a legitimate chance of making it into the first team squad for the finals . It would be career suicide to stay here. If he actually stays I would be more worried about his sanity than feeling respect for his loyalty. Still a good player though. Shame we never saw his best.

That could have been us if we weren't relegated I fear that we'll soon see the day where you can't be competitive in the Premiership without your own Arab sugar daddy.
-
No. Any sort of change scares me to death now. If it isn't some sort of moneybags owner who will come splash infinite amounts of money, I'd rather have the idiots who've already screwed up so much that they can't possibly get any worse.
-
Almost as interesting as what'll happen to us given our reported debt levels I imagine.
-
Good cover? Howay man, in our current state Kyle Naughton is just about the best LB we could get.
-
Those teams keep their squads though, that's the big thing. We lose pretty much all of ours. Our success pretty much relies on how well we're able to build a new squad and how well we can make it gel, two things I have absolutely no trust in Newcastle United to achieve.
-
The thing is, we still have to find, negotiate for, and integrate the players that will take us up. Our major rivals already have them.
-
Oh well, we have a bunch of Championship fans on the board now to correct me if I'm just talking out of my ass.
-
You've got West Brom and Middlesbrough going down, who both look like they'll keep most of their squads which are pretty much pre-made to challenge for the Championship title. You've got Sheffield United failing to win promotion and probably spending big in the summer with the Tevez money. You've got the usual suspects, Reading, Preston, Cardiff, Bristol City, Ipswich, Crystal Palace. You've got Swansea newly competitive and QPR who's surely liable to get it right one of these days. Watford looks like they're getting things back together. On the bottom end of the table you've got a big club coming back up in Leicester and a talented young manager at Peterborough. Then you have us... pretty much screwed Is this the strongest Championship in a while?
-
QPR are a joke, though. How are QPR a joke? Eh? they are the championship version of a cross between the toon and man city, only even worse. not the clubs fault like, they are being run by idiots same as we and city are. Sigh. At least City got the rich idiots.

For me Ryan Taylor is the one we have to keep. I think he'd be perfectly fine in the Championship. Kevin Nolan is just an odd player. I don't think he can be effective in a 4-4-2 because he simply doesn't cover enough ground or make up for his lack of movement with good long-range distribution. For me he's a player that isn't any good in any formation except the one Big Sam tailor made for him at Bolton. I think I'd sell him to a promoted team and recoup some cash.
-
Pent up anger at Given's sale means Harper has become Scapegoat One. He's decent enough for the Premiership never mind the Championship. I'd love to keep Krul but not at the expense of a perfectly functional first team keeper.
-
He'll have a great career back in Spain. Too bad the fucking shit decided that he couldn't be bothered here.
-
Yes But this time, with Shearer hopfully at the helm, surely we will start the season with more than one capable player in each of the full back positions (NOT Ryan Taylor). Good news this (as long as Ashley doesn't sell) as he is one of about four of the present first team I'd keep. Ryan Taylor is more than adequate in the Championship. Not sure he is tbh. On the basis of what I have seen of him this season I wouldnt want to rely on him every week in the Championship The simple fact is that few of us watch the Championship regularly, and none of us have seen Ryan Taylor actually play there. He could be useful, he could be shit. Based on the fact that Stephen fucking Carr was the best right back in the division this year, I'm inclined towards the former.
-
Reading have a better chance at promotion? With Coppell gone I'm reasonably sure next year will be a rebuilding campaign for them. The likes of Doyle and Hunt probably can and will be tempted to leave. I would guess they'd be more likely to join a promoted club who'll take a chance on them though. How are you planning on signing some of these players exactly? I just read Newcastle earned £41 million through TV this season, and next season it will be a mere £2.5 million. The players you sell won't go for inflated prices because Europe knows you need the money. Bosman rulings or part exchange transfers is where you guys should be looking. Never implied we should be going for Doyle or Hunt. I don't know if we'll have a pot to piss in next season but I'd rather assume that we will. It all comes down to how many high earners we get to offload and for how much. What I would like to know is why you seemed to have registered on this forum for the sole express purpose of running around and screaming "YOU'LL HAVE NO MONEY! PANIC!"
