You've got a lot of growing up to do buddy. Which clubs go down and get some kind of renewed vigour, some kind of spur-on which leads them back to an imaginary golden age of 'pure football'? I'll tell you now, absolutely none. Football is a market. A market which is constantly moving towards ever more calculated equilibrium. It doesn't matter how much you post in 'fake Geordie slang' or how much you look back to some supposedly pure era where everything was good and noble – it just looks like some pathetic raging against the dying light. The fantastic scenario you posit is exactly that: a nonsense where what 'we feel' is reciprocated by a miraculous new playing staff. Shiiieeeett, I'd rather have a mercenary intent on succeeding for-his-own-good in the squad than some pissant conforming to a parochial ideal of what 'we' (you) stand for. This is a valid point and one i take on board, however, my point is also to highlight how influential Beye and Martins are on our first team. But Rooney and Zambrotta would be influential to our team. The nationality or race of a player shouldn't come into their physical attributes. It's like saying only Brazilians play with flair, so lets get a few of them in. Why is the semi final and final of the Olympic 100m always contested by black athletes. Its because they are faster than white athletes. That is not racist but a FACT. American football, Basketball are heavily populated by black athletes, because of their power and pace. I think my point is completely valid! Not that many in the NHL I notice. You can go on about power and pace all you want but these attributes aren't exclusive to any race and you're making a very sweeping generalisation by saying that. Besides, pace and power are not the only contributing factors to a successful football team, or indeed any sports team for that matter. You've got a valid point by saying we need more steel in the side, but by saying we need it from black people specifically is just stupid and small minded. It is not small minded at all. We lack power and pace. Some black players have both of these attributes in abundance. I think you are naive and socially reclusive if you think otherwise mackems.gif I'm sorry, I just can't resist.

I think it's naive to assume that Ashley will leave if we get relegated. It's obviously more easy to sell a premiership club than it is to sell a championship club, and Ashley isn't suddenly going to be willing to sell the club for nothing just because we've been relegated. He'll still want to recoup a significant portion of his investment. The more likely scenario is that Ashley simply lets us rot down in the lower divisions for God knows how long until he can find someone daft enough to spunk down major cash. The club will be much, much more salable if we retain our place in the Premiership.
