It's seriously getting to the point where if someone asked me if I'd rather have Europe next season or be shot of this useless fucker, I'd take the latter.
-
well, at least we didn't buy him
-
Coloccini in to start at CB, cover for RB Bassong in to cover for LB and CB Enrique - Faye - Coloccini - Baye Bassong - Taylor - Cacapa/Edgar - Coloccini dear God, I never thought I'd say this but... out defence is completely sorted.
-
Would love to have him here. Aside from being a good player, he'd blow the "current board is skint/KK has no backing/daeHtihS" arguments out of the water.
-
Oba must be devastated. Seemed so close to his mother. Wish him and his family the best.
-
Didn't think it was possible for me to hate Chimbonda any more than I already do, then he goes and signs for Sunderland
-
Exactly. I don't think he'll walk at all. He'll get sacked. You're our little ray of sunshine, aren't you
-
The season hasn't even started yet, do we really have to be worrying ourselves by imagining scenarios where KK could walk? I know this is Newcastle, but surely this is excessive even for us
-
Wouldn't put much stock into Russian media rumors. If it's true, I hope he bangs heads with Modric on the first day of training, giving both skull fractures and putting them out for the season.
-
His movement isn't fast enough you mean Aye, I suppose. He's a plodder who'll not stop running......just not quickly enough to get about the park. Personally find the idea that Milner is so slow that he can't even play in the center of the park laughable. The man's not a tortoise FFS. Slower players have played at CM just fine.
-
Hopefully if we do loan him out we can get him to a Championship team at least, would prefer to have him playing at a higher level since he's been at the SPL for a year.
-
Think we need a DM and an AM as the bare minimum before the season starts. If we get a CB and a striker on top of that, I'd feel good about our European chances. If the whole "Milner in the center" thing works out, I suppose our AM options are good enough with Milner, Barton, and Guthrie to choose from, although it's been mentioned by KK that he's looking to convert Barton into a DM
-
Wouldn't mind Malbranque but we're already well-stocked in the position he plays. I don't think KK would be going for him unless we're letting two of Zog, Milner, and Duff go. Can't see him playing as a CM in a 4-4-2 either. Good player, but we've got more urgent problems.
-
Milner's weakness as a winger has always been his lack of pace. Put him in the centre and he has less need for that, with the added benefit of not being forced into trying speculative crosses. Like KK says, he's got a great engine and technique-wise I think he's one of the better players in the Premiership. (There, I said it, let the flames begin ) I say it's worth a shot. He's only a mediocre winger as it is, worst case scenario he becomes a mediocre central midfielder. Good squad player either way, but I think CM plays more to his strengths and gives us a shot at making him worth much more to us than he is now.

Makes a mockery of his excuse to leave Tyneside for London. A year can change things.
-
We could use a player like that too, incidentally.

Seeing how it looks all of Blackburn's good players are packing up and leaving, we might as well finish the job by going in for Santa Cruz. Surely the rumors of Arsenal wanting him can't be true. I think we'd get him for 10m-ish. (braces for the news that he's signed for Arsenal tomorrow morning)
-
I wouldn't be so sure. Considering that Dinho's ego probably dwarves "Chain Smoker" Tuncays by at least a factor of ten, one has to wonder how receptive he'll be to a manager he probably hasn't even heard about prior to joining the squad. It's frightening when you think about it really. It's hard enough for us to get rid of our 40k and 50k failures, if the whole Dinho affair goes tits up Man City will be stuck paying him ten million pounds a year, and no team on Earth will be willing nor capable of buying him. For that sort of risk to be justified, he better get them into the f***ing Champions League.

Are you even reading my posts? If Bentley can't join a top four club, he goes to the one(s) who look most like breaking into that group next season. Do you honestly think we're as close to the CL spots as Everton, Villa, Spurs* etc? Are we f***. Of course we'd have a chance though, I never said we wouldn't. Again you're putting words into my mouth saying I'd be resigned to losing out and comparing me to that fucktard shitteam. How exactly do you know we're not moving for players like Bentley anyway? Because the clueless press haven't mentioned us? See my other thread - looks to me like they don't have the f***ing foggiest about what we're planning. *I think last year they finished in a false position - unlike us. The competition for Guthrie is pretty decent at Liverpool too you know, that's why they can afford to let him go. I just don't see how if we'd only signed Gutierrez and Park at this point you'd be so much more convinced than with Gutierrez and Guthrie. Dave, you don't seriously think that Guthrie as a player is anywhere near Park's level yet do you? I think you're just trying to make the point that the pessimists wouldn't have been any happier even if we had signed Park as opposed to Guthrie?
-
Paying him off the remainder of his contract just so we could get him to f*** off would be "nice." A deal like that would merit dancing in the streets, a public holiday, and an open car parade.
-
I'd just like to remind everybody that we're now officially referring to him as "Alan fucking Smith." Don't see why we can't afford to let him go unless we sign another striker. I'd honestly rather have Shola.
-
You guys got into a Park fight without me noticing?
-
At this point, I think it's fair to assume that if the press links us with someone we should take that as the clearest kind of evidence that we are not interested in said player. I think the rags are realizing it too, hence the surprising lack of "newcastle linked with every fucking player under the sun" rumors in recent days. Love the way the new board does business

Personally, I envision him being about as useful to us as Milner, albeit in a different position. For the price, I wouldn't mind that at all.
