  1. "Tuncay Sanli is tipped to leave Fenerbahce in the summer with his likeley destination to be Newcastle and join up with his Turkish teammate Emre, or to another team such as Inter Milan who also showed some interest in the Turkish player."
  2. T.Ketsbaia came on a free transfer iirc, so 900k profit. I think that we will have lost more money on big signings then profits over the last 10 years and nave not got the best out of some players signed. Purchases like H.Viana (£8.5m -- £1.7m), JA.Boumsong (£8m -- £3m), A.Luque (£9.5m -- ?), L.Robert (£9.5m -- free), C.Cort (£7m - £2m) and E.Marcelino (£5.8m -- ?)
  3. Dietmar Hamann - £5.25m (1998) -- £8m (1999) -- £2.75m profit Steve Howey - trainee (1989) -- £3m (2000) -- £3m profit Aaron Hughes - trainee (1996) -- £1m (2005) -- £1m profit Jermaine Jenas - £5m (2002) -- £7m (2005) -- £2m profit Franck Dumas - £500,000 (1999) -- £1.5m (2000) -- £1m profit Steve Watson - trainee (1991) -- £4m (1998) -- £4m profit David Batty - £3.75m (1996) -- £4.4m (1998) -- £650,000 profit Keith Gillespie - £1m (1995) -- £2.35m (1998) -- £1.35m profit

    Wages crisis?

If Bramble, Moore, Babayaro, Emre and Carr leave in the summer that is likely to greatly help the wage budget. I noticed from the links that it seems SBR had some sense when offering players contracts, sensible lengths - except Bramble (only reason i don't think he has been sold or released is because he will be on big wages), but Souness + Roeder's eras they just seem to offer any player a 5 year deal.
  5. There will be new Premiership numbers and letters as well.

    Wages crisis?

It's got me thinking, what is an average Premiership players wage? I wonder what these players could be on? Given (signed new 5 year deal not long ago) Babayaro (Souness0 Moore (Souness - picked up £250,000 in 6 weeks iirc) Carr (SBR) Butt (SBR) Ramage (signed a 3 year deal a season ago - he was about to leave remember) Harper (signed new 2 year deal recently)
  7. Thats given me a great idea! lets boycott the games!! This season though people will have paid for their season ticket and should go to the games.
  8. Didn't watch the game and won't watch the game tonight on MOTD. Feel sorry for the people who put themselves into inconvenience to go and watch that. I can't believe he has a 2 year deal and i don't think Shepherd will sack him because it will look like he has made yet another mistake. Also, i don't think this would send out a good message to other candidates for the job. I always thought this season was going to be write off - or 'stabilising period' and it has proved that (mid-table), but we need to get rid of some personnel for next season. Bramble, Babayaro, Moore, Emre and Onyewu are said to be leaving at the end of the season. Why was Taylor not in the squad today? Why did N'Zogbia not come on earlier when Dyer was limping? Why, when we go to teams who are below us, roll over so easily? Could Roeder answer any of these questions? How much would it take to buy Douglas Hall out?

    Tony Toms

"His assistant was a bloke called Tony Toms, who'd been a fitness instructor for the commandos, would you believe. He'd even written a book about it, called 'Commando Seven'. Toms was one of those blokes who looked like they'd been hewn out of granite, aged 35 - the sort of bloke you could never imagine as a baby, or a toddler. Tony Toms was super-hard, and Ashurst assured us he'd get our boys super-fit with the right exercises and the correct diet - roast lamb on match days rather than the traditional steak apparently." Straight from google.
  11. I think Newcastle fans would rather see flair players at St. James'. Scott Parker is not a flair player, he is more of a defensive midfielder, but when he played for Charlton he was a box-to-box player. Thanks to Chelsea they changed him into a Makelele type of player and narrowed his overall game as well as game time at the club. A reason for the pirouetting that we constantly see from Parker, which stifles Newcastle's overall play, is because at a club like Chelsea Parker would feed the ball to Lampard or another creative force like Cole or Robben, Parker didn't have to run or have as much as an influence in Chelsea's side then he does in ours or in Charlton's team. But at Newcastle, all the pirouetting in the world, there will be no creative player (except Emre) to give the ball to. This leads to numerous turns and then the wrath of the fans as they would rather see him beat three players and then turn round and beat them again. Chelsea have effectively ruined a very good attacking player.
  12. I think it was Tony Gale who said he believed they were heading for the Champions League. Oh how he was wrong, well Champions-hip, part right.
  13. Forster - know little about him, though he was on the bench versus Frankfurt. Gate - I think hes about 22, not likely to make it into the first team as he probably would have made it before Hunty and Edgar. Huntington - PREM exp. * Edgar - PREM exp. * Doninger - not sure. Troisi - not sure. Pattison - PREM exp. Lualua - new Gazza apparently (Wharton) and only 16, been on the bench a few times for first team. * O Brien - Has pace, but seems to do little with the ball. Carroll - Seems stick thin, with little muscle and has scored prolifically for the reserves. Donaldson - only 15, but has scored 7 goals in 10 games for the U-18s and made his debut for the reserves already this season. * IMO these * may feature for the first team more prominently in the future.
  14. Espanyol AZ Werder Bremen M. Haifa PSG Benfica Sevilla These are some of the teams to watch out for imo.
  15. Newcastle v AZ Maccabi Haifa v Espanyol Rangers v Osasuna Braga v Spurs Sevilla v Shatkar Donesk Lens v Bayer Leverkusen PSG v Benfica Celta Vigo v Werder Bremen

    Charlton Away

Fulham was a canny ground as well, a bit different than your normal match day in Newcastle as it seemed more family orientated and quiet.
  17. 13) Which club did Albert Luque go out on loan to during the 99/00 season? 14) Obafemi Martins first club? 15) How many goals did Oguchi Onyewu score for Standard Liege?
