  1. Lol bobby petta played here in Adelaide for a while ... And wasn't good enough so he played for one of the local clubs here. Nice guy he was though. Anyway- I always thought Koren was one of the stars of west brom. Bit lightweight in my opinion but always seemed to chip in with goals. Since the rise of lee chung yong we should try some of the younger korean generation - lee seung ryul scored a nice goal yesterday and looks a tidy winger/forward. Won't cost heaps and is only 21. Im also a huge fan of chin dae se who is the main striker for north korea.
  2. I Think he's a prick too - but I dont think he's stupid enough to be making the same mistakes nor gamble with us going down again. People are overreacting and media are fuelling the fire. Everyone loves us having a go at the board and the passion/contraversy/drama that goes with it. In my view much of the statement is aimed at the media and agents. I would be ery suprised if ch did not approve of this statement. Up to now the board and him have been working very well. I am quietly confident that people will be pleasantly surprised. If not, well - cockney mafia out!!!
  3. They're not saying they aren't going to invest, they're essentially saying there isn't going to be any massive changes to the squad i.e two or three new players. exactly. I agree this is a cryptic statement but in my view is purposely like that. It's a bit dramatic but definitely putting it out there we are no longer being run the same as before. I reckon ch would have seen this statement and approved. Like in the January transfer window I think it will be under promise and over deliver.
  4. Yep. And good on em. thy have realised they have no idea so they are saying we will Leave the footballing decisions to ch.
  5. I understand that people think the statement is 'negative'. But where does it day we are not going to sign any further players? I think that ashley and co have realised that it is better to under promise and over deliver rathe than over promise (as past boards have), raise expectations and then fall flat on our faces ( ie become a laughing stock). Get past the initial tone of statement and, as stated before, I really think it is a message more to agents and the media that we will not pay stupid prices for players. btw, The above theory is based on the last transfer window so we will see if this theory is correct in a couple of months time. At this stage I say very smart statement.
  6. I think it's a very smart statement. Try Reading it from an agent's point of view rather than a fan's - it effectively tells you to p*ss off if you try to rip the club off. Call me naive but I think it's very smart.
  7. Blackpool to see holloway.
  8. If Jose says we're a big club we're a big club.
  9. In a nutshell, my view is that hughton has said the right things - just said the right things about the wrong person.
  10. And? Do you suggest he slates them? Or just stay quiet when asked a question? Honestly, anything other than praise will get picked up by the press. I see your point but I think if a player is genuinely interested in playing then knowing you have the managers support is a huge motivation. In terms of Nolan, the last thing I want to do is defend him, but from what iread he seems to be a decent bloke who genuinely wants to play and do well - he is just slow and fat. He knows he had a bad game and He knows that everyone is saying he crap he was. In such circumstances if the boss comes out and says he supports you it surely has to give him further motivation to try harder. If not, then he is a thankless b@stard and should be dropped to the youth team. I guess we will the answer in a few hours time. Howay the lads
  11. One thing I like about hughton is how he supports his players. Just read the article where he says he won't drop Nolan. Don't agree with him not being dropped but when a player is supported like that u have to think of the confidence it gives them and the desire to play for the manager. Just something I think he is doing well.
  12. our midfielders don't run = no options = players getting caugt on the ball. I was so frustrated at players getting caught on the ball but realised they kept looking up but no one was comin towards it ( although in Nolans case he was just crap). Swansea on the other hand- running all over. Non stop movement. Was impresseed when kuqi ran all the way back to outmuscle routledge or sImpson near the halfway line. also pissed off with saunders singlig out colos "mistakes" in his analysis. He played well.
  13. In Aussie rules st kilda.
  14. I remeber the old monaco tops by puma were really nice. Back when they played champs league with giuly and evra-2005 I think. Le coq would have been good too. The black everton away tops look good
  15. Where's daglish? I hate the fact ginola and Gillespie were sold/frozen out Souness was horrible and I blame shepherd for where we are now
  16. I would love to see him at an AFL (aussie rules) game. Those jocks wouldn't know how to take it...
  17. Can't believed you managed to type that without being physically sick. What a fuckin disgrace that is. I honestly think I'd break Nicky Butt's legs if I saw him in the street.
  18. Glen Johnson thinks his new dreads are gansta. Fo real. Roy Carroll like this.
  19. Winston Bogarde is training in the reserves. (2 weeks ago) Chelsea Football Club just gave Winston Bogarde £40,000. (2 weeks ago) Winston Bogarde is training with the reserves...again. (1 week ago) Chelsea Football Club just gave Winston Bogarde £40,000. (1 week ago) Chelsea Football Club just gave Winston Bogarde £40,000. (yesterday) Winston Bogarde says "Why should I throw fifteen million Euro away when it is already mine?" (yesterday) Valeri Bojinov, Benjani, Carlos Tevez, Emmanuel Adebayor, Craig Bellamy, Roque Santa Cruz and Robinho like this.
  20. Good thread this. Brings back a lot memories for me. Like half the people here, I followed Shearer. In Australia, we had a basketball craze between 1993-1994 and I was really into basketball (I was 12/13). I wore glasses and even had the rubber band between the frames so they don't fall off when you play (a poor man's Horace Grant). But after USA 94 I fell in love with football and have never looked back. Being born in Spain of Korean descent, I grew around football so it was natural I went back to it. But in Australia, it was either Serie A or Premier League. In the newagencies they sold Match and Shoot! magazines and my brother and I literally fed off those and we fell in love with English football. The various posters of players with totally subjective statistics (e.g Shearer: shooting power 9/10, shooting accuracy 9/10, speed 8/10, strength 9/10 etc) gave us some idea of who was who and who was decent. Anyway, Shearer seemed like the most likeable, decent guy compared with Robbie Fowler and Matt Le Tissier etc so he became my favourite player. I followed Blackburn for a while but Shearer and other players always spoke about how great Newcastle was and I thought to myself, "If I ever become a pro, I'll join Newcastle, even over Blackburn." When Shearer joined Newcastle, there was only one outcome. Never looked back and never regretted it. btw I remember David Eatock from CM2. He was crap and I always sold him to a League 2 team for 50K.
  21. Who cares if he's staying for the $$ - so long as he has some fire to fight and take the club back to the Premier League. If we can get an owner who can afford the wages, I'm happy that the likes of Enrique, Beye and Martins are staying. If they play and fire the club up to the Premier League, who cares they stayed because they got paid more than in Spain? It's not like we're going to get these sorts of signing with our Championship status now.
  22. At least Shearer visited Adelaide...as did the Newcastle Youth team - I remember STaylor was playing. Shearer in Adelaide - probably the biggest thing that's happened here other than Oasis playing here back in 1998...
