  1. Well, after not being able to bring myself to push the button pre-season on cancelling my ST, yesterday it finally happened. Was on the 10 year thing so i've paid for 7 months out of 12. Payments were only £36 per month but i've only been v Watford and Brighton so effectively i've paid about £125 a game. Doesn't seem any point in paying another £200 or so til the end of the season when my heart isn't in it. Me and my daughter were going to games together for 21 years, since she was 3. She chucked it in the summer. Bought a one off ticket for 'her' seat next to me for the Brighton game as she admitted to having withdrawal symptoms. Safe to say she now realises she's missing nowt. The worst possible advert to tempt her back. So there we have it. 43 years of me going regularly and 28 years as a ST holder gone at the press of a button. The decision is was made by my feeling of apathy as much as protest. An apathy brought on by Ashleys lack of ambition or even interest in the club. We've been s**t for most of my life but in the past it's bothered me when we'rent doing well. Now i barely care. Having said that about protest, if it's one more empty seat towards change then fantastic.
  2. Overheard a conversation between a cabin crew lass and a lad with his obligatory light blue SAFC away shirt on during a flight to Faro last week. Alerted to the conversation when i heard her say 'Proud mackem'. She went on to say 'Hey, they're doing alright aren't they? Do you think we'll get taken over? I hope so' She was looking up to the ceiling of the plane and crossing her fingers by this point. The comment to top the lot was 'That'll be the downfall of Newcastle.' As ever NUFC are their yardstick and are always at the forefront of their minds. On the 6.45am return coach journey to Faro airport this morning i then had to contend with a bunch of 40 something mouthy mackem lasses beside me talking in that accent that's unbearable at the best of times, let alone early morning with a long day ahead. Maccarewns and ballewns were mentioned.
  3. Great site that Puts to bed my theory, they have always been the second best supported team in Tyne and Wearyside Undoubtedly. The odd season when they have bettered our average has been the exception to the norm.
  4. Maybe, our crowds are dwindling and I’m convinced only bounced back because of Rafa, there’s a hardcore 35,000 that will always go now in the PL, drop down and we will see crowds of that in the championship. If we fell into division 3 like the strange c***s down the road I actually think we’d get no where near their attendances . Disagree always have had bigger crowds by a huge margin as well. When we were in the pits of division 2 early 80’s the crowds were s**** mind, I stood amongst them. Crowds in general were down across the board, but we still got bigger crowds than Sunderland though during that time. Can't be arsed to look it up but that last bit surprises me. Long time ago and I was in my teens but I can remember they were in the old 1st division (top division in those days). After our failed promotion bid of 1979/80 - i think Sunderland went up that season - I'm sure our gates really dipped pre keegans arrival in August 1982.
  5. Great result for Dunston away at Goole in the FA cup. Won 4-1. Sunderland RCA at home next round. This Saturday.
  6. i was honestly shocked by the standard and consistency of the goals during the highlights i watched, was incredible Hartlepool and Harrogate both quite close to you aren't they? Relatively close i suppose, though i'm happy with a mere passing interest in the lower leagues. I've started going to random league one and two grounds in a bid to 'do the 92' and am really enjoying my days out. At the same time i'm envious of some fans, who while small in numbers are able to passionately back their teams knowing the people at the top want the best for their club. In most cases anyway.
  7. tell you what, i left BT Sports on the other night and they played the highlights from the vanarama league somethignorother and it looked totally fucking class, some of the goals were outrageously good for the level briefly considered going but i just don't have any connection to any of the teams down there I've started enjoying the EFL highlights on quest much more than MOTD. Premier league bores me silly these days.
  8. Was at the game Sunday. My 1st game of the season and it should have been one of the best aways in a long time as you say. I just couldn't throw myself into it as much as those around me. In the past i'd have felt exhilarated and you'd struggle to get me out the stand at FT. Instead i half heartedly celebrated the winner, couldn't bring myself to sing about being 'the loyalest football supporters' or 'we'll support you ever more' and at FT thought 'Oh well, let's go'. Couldn't quite push the button on cancelling my ST but i just feel anaesthetised to goings on at the club now. Such great results are tempered by thoughts of the pointlessness of it all. We might finish 16th instead of 18th. So what? Tremendous apathy and i hate it.
  9. Aye, seen Phil Neville on MOTD. Says it should be about staying up now before moving on to the next step, but for that to happen we all have to be pulling in the same direction. As if Ashley's blameless and it's the fans fault.
  10. As i won't have my season ticket for the 1st season in decades, i don't know how i'm going to feel once the season starts. I'm apathetic at the minute. Not enthusiastic enough to bother watching them anywhere. I was in Blackpool last weekend and couldn't be arsed to go to Preston, just along the road. But who knows? I might get withdrawal symptoms. Been offered help with away tickets..IF i should want them and it would be my only option IF i wanted to go to a game.
  11. Personally don't see the problem in going to away games while boycotting home games. I'd still go. Ashleys not getting your money that way. Just now i'm not sufficiently interested. Each to their own.
  12. So you're suggesting the ground will sell out but some season ticket holders might not turn up? That may be the case for the Arsenal game but If fewer people own a season ticket in the 1st place then it stands to reason a full SJP is less likely.
  13. Great set up at Hebburn. There's a really comfy upstairs bar overlooking the pitch where you can sit watching the game through the window while you drink if you like.
  14. Bet they'll all have a smug 'Where were you when we were shit?' attitude and think they've been the better fan too. Ignoring the reasons for us staying away in the 1st place. For those on ticket sales watch there'll be the likes of me and my Daughter who are only now cancelling. They'll probably take a few days to show. On the 10 year thing so half of next season paid for already but we're going to settle for cutting our losses. 21 years i've been taking her from her being 3 years old. Breaks my heart. 225 loyalty points between us gone. I had 182 and she had 43.
  15. Who's that then? Just curious. Colchester United, a small team in Essex. Fair play. I was at a friendly at Mansfield last week, (trying to do the 92). I was so jealous of the 2000 or so fans they had. All proudly decked out in club gear, polo shirts etc. Manager posing for selfies with young fans. Supporters liaison people wandering the stand. It was clear the club appreciated it's support. Most of all, those fans could get behind their team with a clear conscience, knowing the people at the top wanted what they wanted. For the club to be the best it can be.
  16. At the moment all i feel towards NUFC is indifference and i hate it being that way.
  17. Who's that then? Just curious.
  18. Dunston, Whickham? Ryton and Crawcrook albion maybe? Dunston play at the highest level of those 3. Do a few games there myself. You could probably both get in for about a tenner.
  19. Where's Seymour? 2 days of constant, against the tide posting then nowt. Has he been on here previous to this 2 days of nonsense? If he's on the wind up it's one of the best I've seen. Mind you there was someone on total sport taking the same line. 'I was there before Ashley blah blah, I love my club and if there was 10k there sitting on toilet seats I'd be one of them.' These people unfortunately do exist. Might have even been Seymour himself.
  20. That win v man city on a bitter Jan night. Do these people not realise it could be like that most weeks if this club was allowed to maximise its potential. When I think of Rafa leaving to be replaced by Bruce the ghost of Bullseyes Jim Bowen enters my head saying 'Come and have a look at what you could've won.' As we dejectedly trudge off with our Steve Bruce tankards with £40 sticking out the top. Showing my age I know like.
  21. Thats what being a supporter is all about man you support through thick and thin. By doing so I've seen good times and bad times. Thick and thin. The rewards of being a fan are thin while some fans are thick.
  22. Calling me a cancer If 45k+ are cancers to the club then why not go to the ground and tell them all that then? Why not do something about it to get rid off these 45k+ cancers? If I felt as strongly as you and I thought boycotting would get rid of him, then I certainly would. Why not do something about the fans going to the ground? What? A picket line in effect. Approach strangers outside of SJP and say 'Hoo yee, i think you're a c*** for going to the game' which probably leads to physical violence in font of a heavy police presence and all on CCTV. Sensible. Aye, why not mate? Why not stop those nasty cancerous supporters from going to the game? Surely if boycotting gets rid off Ashley and those supporters are still going to games then you should be doing something? Why not eh? I don't fancy rolling about with strangers or a criminal record possibly leading to losing my job for a start. I'm sure match going fans read social media etc and are aware of the strength of feeling anyway. As for doing something. I'm trying to get people like yourself to understand the reasons for not going while appreciating that you can make your own choice. I'm giving up my ST after 28 years and binning 180 loyalty points. I've been through some dark days since i started going in the 70s so it's not simply because we're shit as you suggest. It's about self respect. It's a result of feeling under valued, no longer feeling proud or passionate. Something i miss greatly btw. In the past i've had sleepless nights and butterflies before a game, even as recently as last season. Now just apathy.
  23. Approach strangers outside of SJP and say 'Hoo yee, i think you're a cunt for going to the game' which probably leads to physical violence in font of a heavy police presence and all on CCTV. Sensible.
  24. Have they never spoken to a season ticket holder before like? Why not go to the ground on match day and say the things that's been said to me to the 45k+ that are attending? Cos yees are too thick to understand. Why not give it a go like? All 45k + of them wrong and should be all ashamed of themselves shouldn't they? Theyre just as bad as Mike Ashley aren't they? I think that might just happen before long. I can see protests outside SJP on a matchday.
