After doing some digging it looks like the wet day v Southend i can remember was the previous season which ended in the same score line. 28K at the 92/93 opener though.
-
You sure? Seems a big turn out for an opening game v Southend after narrowly escaping relegation to the third tier the season before. I thought it was a wet day for that Southend game too but a long time ago so not sure. Not saying you're wrong of course. It just surprises me.

I'm sure there was one spell where Oldham did really well in the cups too. 90s maybe. Think I can remember a semi final v Man U. Might have reached a league cup final too?
-
What a night afterwards too. That Andy Cole song reverberated around the Bigg Market for half the night along with David Kelly ("scored a hat-trick on the Tele") and Robert Lee ("scored a goal on ITV").

I was the same. Would wake up and instantly look forward to any midweek game. Got to admit I nearly sacked it off myself on Monday. Up for work at 04.30..ish so my overriding thought all day Monday was how knackered and shit I'd feel next day. As you say public transport doesn't get you home in a hurry either these days. Don't think I've ever recovered my enthusiasm since briefly chucking my ST during the Ashley era and maybe it's an age thing too. Old fart that I am.

The outcome has so far been a good one with rivals getting better results last night and hopefully Leeds will do so tonight. So thankfully they're on the slide down the table but would of expected the slide to be quicker given their poor run of form.

How bad must that league be? No win for weeks yet they're still up there.

I'm hearing "How dur you" in a Peter Kay, Max and Paddy style voice

I was literally only born in Gatesheads QE because me mam was at my grandparents in Leam Lane when I came along. Then lived all my life in Newcastle, (West Denton mainly then surrounding area) but still have brother in laws etc who call me a mackem. Used to it now and I know the truth.

Was in the St Mirren end at Easter Road for Hibs 1 St Mirren 2. St Mirren 2 up after 31 mins. Hibs missed a pen then eventually scored one in the 94th minute. Game restarted then Hibs scored again....or so they thought. Turns out the shot had went in off an offside Dwight Gayle so was ruled out after a VAR check. Great drama. A St Mirren fan booted a seat before walking out when it looked like they'd blown a 2 goal lead at the death.

Leaving to go abroad the other Sunday and from my airport Greggs viewpoint I spot a 50+ bloke with his missus and he was adorning an SAFC home top and a hold all with FTM across one of the big pockets on it. Actually looked like it was embroidered in and not just that one of the bairns had been messing about with a marker pen or something. Unbelievable...in fact no it's not.

Win a trophy? Just how long is this contract? He'll still be playing for us when he's about 60 and still might not have won one. Just the pessimism the club have instilled in me over the decades I'm afraid.
-
Did we use 3 keepers that night? Chris Hedworth maybe? Don't recall Martin Thomas ever being that bad.

Always fancied the Shay at Halifax. Looks a nice big old school ground. Midweek will put me off though

A mate of mine is a regular follower of Worksop Town and he was telling me how Perch was playing against them for Ilkeston Town the other week.

Ah man. He used to get some stick but was around during some dark years at the toon until KK arrived in 82. A familiar face from watching the club growing up in my teens. RIP Steve.

Really looking forward to watching Evertons collapse on MOTD

Blue Star missed a golden opportunity today. 2 up after about 15 mins v Hallam in the FA cup 1st qualifying round. They gave away a pen which was saved early in the 2nd half but Hallam scored from the resulting corner. They equalised from another corner soon after. Heading for a replay when a sloppy Blue Star pass on the half way line resulted in the Hallam winner from, you guessed it, yet another corner. Blue Star? More like blew it star. Did tremendously well to get passed North Shields and North Ferriby away to get that far though.
-
Yip, wouldn't have lasted 5 mins if it was up after that late Liverpool capitulation last season.
-
Bloody hell! I am out of touch. Wife been in hospital so not been following things.
-
Is Clark away to Ipswich? Been busy but thought I heard it mentioned on total sport.

Great comeback win for Blue Star away at North Ferriby, who I think are a league above. 2-0 down and seemingly dead and buried, they won 4-2 AET. Sheffield club Hallam at home next.
