Devon derby, Exeter v Plymouth for me yesterday. Ground No 90 of the 92 done. 12 o'clock KO. Had it arranged for months so unfortunate that it fell at the same time as the toon game, or maybe not in view of our result. Am pointless so barred out from away games generally anyway. Flew down to Bristol then bussed it rest of the way Friday. Met some 'Poolies' on my flight heading to Newport. Quite a highly charged atmosphere down there with the stone island crews out in force. Had to show ID and proof of my address to get into Spoons for breakfast as they didn't want any match goers in. Took some explaining on my part to get in. "A neutral?" said the doorman. Lovely sunny day and a full house. Had to applaud lots of Exeters play so as I wasn't sitting on my hands too much and got mistaken for a Plymouth fan. I did want Plymouth to win after they graciously played 'we are the champions' after we won the championship and relegated them at the same time. Also a memory from my teenage years is lower league Exeter humiliating us 4-0 In an fa cup replay (circa 1979). Broadcast on BBCs 'Sportsnight'. Younger readers will have to ask their parents. Have to say they've got a fantastic terrace behind one goal. Possibly the best in the country given its size. The loonies in there crept nearer the front as the game wore on to the point they were hanging over the pitchside boards, faces contorted with hate and anger as Plymouth took corners in front of them. Wished I'd got a good pic. As for the result Plymouth were fortunate to scrape it 1-0. Trains back via London with a few pints between trains. Last journey made more interesting by listening to 3 disgruntled Darlo fans returning from a 3-0 loss at Brackley. Another good experience over all.

Was at Blue Star v Killingworth the other night. Blue Star looking good for promotion but crowds seem to have dropped significantly. The had some Friday night games in the last few years with gates of around a 1000 but they had 110 the other night. Sure the Saturday game I previously attended only managed about 140. Baffled as to why TBH.

Don't they all include FTM? Could be a flag free zone now.

The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Champions League

Looking beyond Spurs in 5th, the gap to the others is massive at this late stage. 9 pts on Villa, 12 on Liverpool. Considering those other teams only have 8 or games left it means if we win 4 games they have to win 7 or 8. A tall order. -

The beauty of that fixture is one or both are dropping points. -
Did a ground hop to Gillingham v Tranmere Saturday. Bought a smallish pie for £4.50. Was fairly tasty until my tastebuds were paralysed by the extreme temperature of the filling. Would have been cooler drinking molten lava I'm sure.

Who was Tony? One of those involved in the trouble on the seafront after their Burnley game?

Documentary on itv last Sunday called "The footballer, his wife and the car crash". Was about J lloyd Samuel who played for Villa and Bolton in the premier league. Had it all until out injured then turned to gambling. Found himself desperate for a club and had to go to play in Iran where he met and married another woman, permissible under Sharia law apparently. Came back to the UK and his British wife before he was killed in a head on crash. His sister and Iranian wife claim he's still alive and that somehow his death was faked. Must admit I could only remember his name but what an interesting life story he had.

Watching Maidenhead v Wrexham (2-2). Nowt against them but hoping Wrexham don't go up. Got a handful of league grounds left to 'do the 92' and seems mega hard to get a ticket for Wrexham home games these days.

Aye, I'm sure Lascelles told him to get up.

I'd be very surprised to say the least if all those teams finished above us. -
Reluctantly would prefer Man U to beat Liverpool this weekend. Despite my dislike for Man Utd bell end followers I feel Man U are already out of sight and them winning will keep Liverpool off our back.
-
In the one I mentioned it was usually one person starting of by shouting "al give you an N". The crowd would simply shout "N.N". Would go through the whole spelling of Newcastle letter by letter doing the same. After we'd done the "E,E" we'd sing 1234, listen to the geordies roar - Newcastle!...Newcastle!. The Newcastle bit at the end was in the same style as when the mackems sing Sunderland at the end of that "Wise men say" shite.
-
Takes me back to my old Gallowgate days of the 80s and where I get my user name from talking about those old songs. Was full of characters conducting the singing while perched on the concrete crush barriers, fists clenched and punching the air. Loved the old "Al give you an N" song. With a wubble u, wubble u in the middle. 1234 listen to the geordies roar at the end. Simple but a classic.

We regularly encounter fans of clubs who have been more successful than yours of late Froggy. Liverpool and Man City who have more recent history to be arrogant about. Yes, some of them are awful too but I don't think there's a more antagonistic and arrogant bunch than yours. We too went to Kilburn on the recommendation of the London mags, who did a fantastic job of providing info BTW. The atmosphere was so hostile that we got back on the tube without stopping for a drink. Two well followed clubs with a history of rivalry so expected some banter but what we experienced Sunday was OTT. Can't tar a whole fan base with the same brush but I feel Man U have a larger percentage of twats among them than most TBH. -

Broke our journey at Kilburn and they were everywhere. Same old shit. Cheer up Alan Shearer. "We've won it all". Heard them singing the one about the 2 Leeds fans killed in Turkey. Said to one of them that they put more into winding up opposition fans than supporting their own team. I agree. Horrible. -

Fan park with a queue not worth waiting in despite looking quite empty inside the fan park. Someone said it was because there was too few staff on the bars. Queues for my turnstile were way bigger than you'd expect at premier league games. Once inside had to queue for ages once more to pay £15 for a beer and a hot dog. It's London I know. The occasion was massive and I hope we're playing there every season but new Wembley is shit IMO. Epitomises modern stadia. -
Cheers for the heads up. 07.55 so Queens looks like my only option there. Greggs maybe.

Usually no chance of an early Sunday full English in Newcastle I should imagine but anyone know of somewhere that might be open early as a one off for the big day? Could do with a stomach liner before the train and associated beer.
