  1. This. Liverpool is usually the away game i look out for for an overnight stay. Enjoy the city and find the locals generally friendly and hospitable. After struggling to get booked up a few seasons ago we ended up staying above 'The Pineapple' pub in Toxteth. My childhood memories of Toxteth were of it in flames during the riots, seen on TV, so we were a bit apprehensive. Turned out we enjoyed every minute and were made very welcome. Relations took a downturn on Saturday sadly. I think if the shoe was on the other foot we'd try and get in the home end at Anfield but for NUFC as a club to provide LFC fans with tickets is crazy. After seeing the videos of them singing in the lounge you ask yourself why they weren't ejected then?
  2. Aye, those vids are usually quite funny. Great to hear the confident pre match predictions of 3-0 Sunderland etc then watch it all go tits up.
  3. They won’t play in London on the same day as us, it just won’t be allowed. Even if the Met police allowed it, I don’t think Northumbria police would want both groups of fans getting the first train down to London from Central station. Precedence will be given to the mackems because they're better fans. And of course because they're an equally, if not bigger club ?.
  4. Just been reading the chronicles explanation of how the play offs work. Said 3rd and 4th place would be home in the 2nd leg. As it stands Sunderland would go to Charlton 1st leg, I think. Thought that might have been on the day we're at Fulham but chron said the ELF, the clubs and police decide the order of play. Police might not fancy us both in London on the same day. Our game will be on the Sunday, theirs will be on the Saturday. I assumed 3rd v 6th would be 1st up on Saturday then 4th v 5th would be Sunday but maybe not. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/league-one-play-offs-semi-16186747

  6. Even if they end up going up it's glorious enjoying their stress and anguish right now. The play offs would just prolong the agony and with any luck end in more tears.
  7. Here's a feasible situation next weekend. Them and pompey draw, Barnsley beat Blackpool at home then safc can only catch Barnsley on goal difference. Currently 6 worse off so unlikely.
  8. Massive Southampton looking down on others.
  9. Got talking to a half pissed Southampton fan in the Beehive on Saturday. After singing 'Oh when the saints' under his breath he was saying people think they're not as passionate down south but they always sell out away, clearly overlooking the fact they only took half the away section that day. Also said he loves clubs with big followings like NUFC and wanted Leeds to come up for that reason. Went on to call the likes of Fulham and Brighton tinpot. This was from a Southampton fan!
  10. League one play off semis 1st leg on the weekend we play at Fulham. One on Saturday 11th May at 19.30, the other on Sunday 12th at 12.15. Be interesting if Sunderland are at Charlton that weekend.
  11. Just finished reading Keegans' book and the bits about Joey Barton and how he just couldn't help himself and within hours this comes out. What a loony!
  12. Love the way they claim we are obsessed with them on RTG yet just about every flag i saw today included the obligatory FTM.
  13. 40,000 of them giving it Sunderland til I die tomorrow. We know the real story though. Great excuse for a weekend on the piss but let's not forget the criteria for your 1st team to participate is to be in one of the bottom 2 divisions.
  14. Hope this fixture pile up scuppers them, along with not being very good of course.
  15. U23s/U21s or whatever they are these days played Reading reserves at Wycombes' place.
  16. Devils advocate here..... is there nothing else you could do on a match day? Still lives at home for now but don't see much of her. Not a big drinker and probably wouldn't fancy hanging around pubs with me anyway. Might have a meal out as a family but can do that any other day/night. If NUFC had been in this mess 20 years ago i'd probably have chucked it myself and stuck to trips to the park/soft play etc before she developed an interest. 1st game was Wimbledon away when she was almost 4, after a trip to London Zoo. She was in tears when Shearer scored because the toon fans were so noisy. At the time I did think to myself 'there'll be plenty more tears where they came from, watching this lot.'
  17. Shadow Puppets has given his reasons for still attending games and others have talked about taking the kids. My daughter isn't a kid anymore (23) but we've been going to the games together for the last 20 years. Don't spend much time together as father and daughter now, given her age. Boyfriend has come along etc. She seems disinterested in NUFC but talks me out of giving up our tickets whenever i mention it, and believe me this is the closest i've ever been. While i agree with many of those on here that think a mass drop in attendance is our biggest hope of change, the fact that she still wants to go and spend time with her old man keeps me hanging on...by a thread. I fear it's only a matter of time before i have to say enough is enough and the final straw is just around the corner sadly.
  18. For a while it was just a voice in a crowd before i realised who he was. FYI i reacted to the 1st incident because i knew who said it. Hard to have a go at an anonymous person.
  19. One lad behind me vociferously opposed the anti Ashley chants yesterday. Something along the lines of f**k him support the lads. Even went as far as saying "They're not singing about Ashley now" and "We're winning" once we'd taken the lead. Yes, i still go. Got my personal reasons, although i'm the least interested i've been in 43 years of going but this stuff was unreal. Distracted me from the game for 10 mins i was so angry. The lad's got form mind. Called me disrespectful for not doing the 17th min applause when i stopped joining in after about 2 seasons. The very same lad stopped 'supporting the lads' when he headed for the concourse 10 mins before HT.
  20. Short sighted if true. I'm sure relegation will cost him more than £10m.
  21. YOU wanna bottle the home end Covmag? Thought you said you were no Hoolie ☺.
  22. Anyone who sits in either of these areas able to provide a definitive answer on this one? Curiosity is getting the better of me.
  23. I thought he might TRY HIS HAND in America. Maybe Florida. TAMPA perhaps? Might train with the youth team to start off with. TAMPA with the kids.
  24. Cheers. That's what i thought. So long as we can have a drink together we'll be fine.
  25. Already have 2 tickets for the Milburn sports bar for Blackburn in the cup. need one more but the closest i can find is in bar 1892, two sections below. Can't remember if both bars are accessible? i.e can we all use the same bar despite being spread over the 2 sections? Do they all just merge into one? wouldn't mind sitting apart if we can share pre match/HT pints together.
