  1. The lure of the big money was obviously a carrot dangling. No one goes to China IMO for anything other than money. At the same time I believe everything Rafa says in that times article, and that he is genuine in his feelings towards nufc. Nothing's changed. The lack of ambition is clear to see.
  2. FWIW I agree with your original point. Sad state of affairs that the fan base is so divided thanks to MA. I think we all want a club with good intentions we can all get behind. I'm envious of any club that is making the best of what they have. The Accringtons or Exeters. They might not do anything but the people in charge want the best for their club.
  3. Not sure most have had the situation sussed for 10 years mind. Wasn't it only about 6 years ago we were in Europe after finishing 5th? There wasn't too much unrest then even if it was an oasis in a desert of shit.. I think there's always been something to cling on to in the past. Rafa, even just the hope that things will get better but personally I think the failure to back Rafa is probably one kick in the nuts too many and proof of what most knew already, that he's got no intention of making this club competitive.
  4. Hope so. A sad story none the less. I'm even saddened by the prospect of my adult daughter (24) going to the games herself. Just something we've done together for the last 20 years. After 'crisis' talks last night it seems she still wants to go and i don't. Awful that it's come to this.
  5. Just cancel your dd, I didn't even bother contacting the club. Then ask your bank for the money back from the 4 payments. It's that easy. Does that work? How do you go about reclaiming? In person? Via e-mail? Certainly interesting. Cheers.
  6. Don't see why you need that long to decide TBH. Well, as angry as i am, 43 years of going, 21 years of taking my daughter from the age of 3, 29 years of having a ST and 150+ loyalty pts are factors not to be dismissed easily. Cheers for your help uncle bingo and others.
  7. 4 months of payments towards next season made by me already but think i might need to cut my losses and cancel that DD. Next payment due next Thursday... i think, so guess i've got to decide by the end of the week. For those who've cancelled, how instant is the process? So i can get it done before i'm stung for another months money.
  8. I don't invest much money into NUFC but I'm definitely thinking along these lines anyway. Would love to pick half a dozen games on the continent to take in next season, just for the hell of it really. Had some great days at random places like Bury and Crawley last season. Mainly helped by drink admittedly but i'm enjoying going somewhere new when i can. Bit limited to international weekends or when NUFC get moved for TV unless i chuck my season ticket, which is getting more tempting with every passing day.
  9. Would maybe use the money, and time, to do a bit of ground hopping in a bid to 'Do the 92'. Officially on 68 but including visits to clubs who've moved grounds it's about 72.
  10. Odd's the word for them.
  11. Must be Newcastle airport. Wonder where he's gannin?
  12. Sunderland samaritans will be busy.
  13. To the 'We hate Sunderland' (Tom Hark) tune: They went to Wembley, and that was nice. They f**ked it up, not once but twice. We hate Sunlun, We hate Sunlun etc. They lost to portsmouth on penalty kicks. Charlton pi**ed on their cheesy chips. We hate Sunlun, We hate Sunlun......
  14. They're forgetting their 2 Wembley visits have been for the wrong reasons. The Checkatrade, a competition your 1st team can only play in as a lower division team. League one play final, a desperate last chance to spare their blushes and get out of said lower division. Come on Charlton!
  15. They wanna get in those fountains and get a wash.
  16. You're a regular and detailed poster HTT. I'm surprised. I think you'll miss being on here, but you're your own man. We also stayed in Brentford. Spent Sat night in the Griffin, outside Griffin park. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbank and Palaces Wan-Basaka were in the little function room in the back. Didn't see the latter but seen JFH leaving. The Palace lad was the talk of the bar staff.
  17. Darren Curry just been on radio Newcastle talking about the boats. Saying they'll be landing at Putney at 10/15 min intervals. Says it's gonna take 4 hours or so to get these boats up the Thames and the last boat is due to land at 2.30pm. Bit tight time wise that. Would be quite funny watching the landings i can imagine.
  18. This. Liverpool is usually the away game i look out for for an overnight stay. Enjoy the city and find the locals generally friendly and hospitable. After struggling to get booked up a few seasons ago we ended up staying above 'The Pineapple' pub in Toxteth. My childhood memories of Toxteth were of it in flames during the riots, seen on TV, so we were a bit apprehensive. Turned out we enjoyed every minute and were made very welcome. Relations took a downturn on Saturday sadly. I think if the shoe was on the other foot we'd try and get in the home end at Anfield but for NUFC as a club to provide LFC fans with tickets is crazy. After seeing the videos of them singing in the lounge you ask yourself why they weren't ejected then?
  19. Aye, those vids are usually quite funny. Great to hear the confident pre match predictions of 3-0 Sunderland etc then watch it all go tits up.
  20. They won’t play in London on the same day as us, it just won’t be allowed. Even if the Met police allowed it, I don’t think Northumbria police would want both groups of fans getting the first train down to London from Central station. Precedence will be given to the mackems because they're better fans. And of course because they're an equally, if not bigger club ?.
  21. Just been reading the chronicles explanation of how the play offs work. Said 3rd and 4th place would be home in the 2nd leg. As it stands Sunderland would go to Charlton 1st leg, I think. Thought that might have been on the day we're at Fulham but chron said the ELF, the clubs and police decide the order of play. Police might not fancy us both in London on the same day. Our game will be on the Sunday, theirs will be on the Saturday. I assumed 3rd v 6th would be 1st up on Saturday then 4th v 5th would be Sunday but maybe not. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/league-one-play-offs-semi-16186747

  23. Even if they end up going up it's glorious enjoying their stress and anguish right now. The play offs would just prolong the agony and with any luck end in more tears.
  24. Here's a feasible situation next weekend. Them and pompey draw, Barnsley beat Blackpool at home then safc can only catch Barnsley on goal difference. Currently 6 worse off so unlikely.
