  1. Dennis Wise at it again on SSN this morning. Said some will have a go at Ashley no matter what he does. As if we're picking on poor Mike with no justification. He criticised Man Utd for them not bringing in players to close the gap on City/ keep up with Liverpool but when it came to discussing NUFC it was 'What's wrong with clever buying and selling?' or words to that effect. He went on to say 'Even Rafa said he was happy with the transfer window' overlooking the fact that Rafa can only say so much and was under an amount of duress when putting his name to that club statement last week.
  2. Daughter got an e mail saying membership is available for the coming season. Sign up and she can buy a spurs ticket. That's very good of them. Think they're forgetting she's been paying for next seasons S/T since March.
  3. Less than 2 weeks to get those new season tickets sent out.
  4. https://www.safc.com/news/club-news/2018/july/exclusive-season-card-holder-event-marks-launch-of-new-kit?gamp=true&__twitter_impression=true That's hilarious. Jack Ross bringing cups to the SOS already, fairground teacups. some fans say following their club is a bit of a roller coaster ride but this lot have been on the ghost train for years. A very dark place.
  5. South Hylton Industrial Tools? Might as well have S.H.I.T on the shirts as on the pitch.
  6. It's definitely weird. Certainly for me Villa were just another fairly ordinary club before 2009. Had absolutely nothing against them til that day.
  7. You're making the flags of the UK and England sound like swastikas or something. They're just national flags.
  8. There were a lot of knackers that day, some of them unbelievably went to the lengths of pre-preparing bed sheet banners. The vast majority of their fans partied like they'd won something that day and again at the end of our last relegation season. No sympathy from me.
  9. Maradona and Adam Johnson both guilty of misusing their hands.
  10. "Yorkshire mackems" posts in St Mirren forum 'Black and white army' here: http://www.blackandwhitearmy.com/forums/index.php?/topic/44505-sunderland-speak-to-jack-ross/&page=12 See his answer to a wind up about Ross moving on to a bigger club like Newcastle further down. "Why would he move to a club with less league titles? Now that would be a strange move. I can tell you're all extremely bitter and this probably wasn't a good idea.. :lol:lol". Very selective when it comes to history these lot, Quoting titles won but forgetting that we've never been in the 3rd tier and that we've played 100+ european ties.
  11. Once your up and running on the new site and signed in, click on the box with your name in it, top right of page, and loyalty points is in one of the drop down boxes i'm sure.
  12. Had a liking for St Mirren since the 80's and get to half a dozen games a season when they don't clash with toon games. Will be massively disappointed if this happens. Looked certs for relegation to the Scottish 3rd tier when he took over. They had a single figure points tally by the new year but recovered to survive on GD on the last day of the season. Won the league by 12 points last season, playing good football. Brought a good few young'uns through, one being Lewis Morgan who signed for Celtic in Jan but stayed on loan for the rest of the season. With that in mind he's probably a good fit for the mackems. Used to a small budget too. Done a great job but sincerely hope it all goes tits up and he realises the grass isn't always greener.
  13. I got an email about the change a few weeks ago but it would be typical of nufc not to include all concerned. Edit to say the email called the new ticketing site 'book.nufc.co.uk' dunno what happens if you just type that in a search?
  14. Despite playing in a lower division I think gates will go up, given the fresh start and knowledge that there's some ambition there unfortunately. Do hope it goes tits up though.
  15. Totally unnecessary to kick out like that but MOTD always highlight any such cases when it comes to NUFC. Can't excuse the kick but such like is often swept under the carpet elsewhere. I don't think we've seen enough of him but he always looks hungry for the ball and i'd be just as happy with him starting games as I would Gayle.
  16. It was a nice touch but lasted at least a season too many. Even ended up in some confrontation when I stopped doing it but others around me continued. Like I was lacking respect. I pointed out that even the families of John and Liam said it didn't have to go on.
  17. Think a mere point each for Bolton and Birmingham this season would mean a single loss sends safc down. Got to happen surely.
  18. Not this weekend but lose 2 of their 4 games and they're mathematically gone.
  19. Overheard a great nostalgic conversation on a bus between 2 old timers the other day. They mentioned the "10 minute flag". Anyone remember that? I was just a bairn but iirc it was an NUFC flag in the Gallowgate corner taken down 10 mins from the end of home games? Some would leave on that signal but as a kid i can remember going in for the end of games when the gates opened to let people out.
  20. Aye, true. We were victims of a similar change with the Everton game. Still trying to recoup train money. No way should games be moved once they've announced the tv picks. Having said that it will be nice to watch Mitro tear them apart.
  21. "So our hero is a paedo and we're in division 3" Best quote I've read for a while Goes well to the tune of Yellow Submarine. Another verse of the 'Going down, staying up' song maybe?
  22. I'd like to see that again. I was up the other end but thought he used his knee. I'm no ref but think knee's ok but dunno about shins?
  23. Had catchphrase on earlier. Makem contestant was asked where he was from. Presenter Stephen Mulhern asked what Sunderland was like as he'd never been. Answer: Better than Newcastle.
  24. The place went mental after that David Kelly winner v Portsmouth. Mega important goal. KKs goal v QPR on his debut was fantastic. The stuff of dreams seeing such a superstar playing for OUR club.
  25. The atmosphere at the end of the 96/97 season when we qualified for the CL after humping Forest and they, and Boro, went down. f***ing class. Fantastic day. Seems like only yesterday. IIRC a couple of games ran on after ours had finished, makems away at wimbledon, Coventry away at Spurs and liverpools game. One by one each result fell gloriously into place. Dreamland!
