  1. I agree. These questions need to be put to the new owners. Maybe we need to bring back the forums where fans would meet people from the club once a month or whatever. There used to be someone from the box office iirc, disability representatives etc.
  2. Rightly or wrongly it's been a perk of paying your money up front for a ST for as long as i can remember. An incentive when they were less sought after. Let's face it, any one of us could have bought a ST over the years and had the same benefit but chose not to. I understand why people didn't and i understand why people gave their ST up under MA because i did the very same. It's an unfortunate catch 22. Many stayed away/gave up ST tickets to bring about change but now that change has come about they are having to watch it from afar. Unfortunately in the eyes of the club my previous 29 years of having a ST and having built up loads of loyalty points count for nothing now that i've had a gap between owning a ST. Away games are practically no go for me anymore and again in the eyes of the club someone who did 3 away games during Ashleys' awful later years is more deserving than myself.
  3. Not a member but curious. Will NUST ask the important questions on behalf of the fans? Eg fairness of ticket distribution has been talked about in here a lot recently. Should we sell more season tickets/keep more for individual matches? Should season ticket holders be able to buy a spare ticket? Is the loyalty point system fare or is it abused too easily and frequently? Is their another way to issue away tickets? I believe we finally have people in charge of the club who will listen to concerns and address them. I just hope the questions are put to them.
  4. Ashley man. Even now he's gone he's left his legacy of a divided fan base. I know what you mean. I've got my ticket back now. Got it in the hope the takeover would actually happen after all the talk. Lost my 182 loyalty pts though when I gave it up when Rafa left. Still p*ss*ed off at that btw. "If Rafa goes we go". Well he went, I went but not as many as I'd hoped left with us considering we still had 40k + gates the following season. Anyway I can't get to away games unless I go cap in hand for help from others who I know feel inwardly smug and superior. 1st away game in 1982 and there are fans who went to a few away games in Ashleys final years that are, in the clubs' eyes at least, better qualified than me.
  5. I did touch on the Ashley acceptance in my post and mention that I gave mine up after a lot of years.
  6. I'll put me tin hat on here but some season ticket holders would argue being able to buy an extra ticket is reward for spending thousands of pounds over the years through some shit seasons while some just fancy it since the takeover. I'm not talking about Ashley acceptance here either because many have been ST holders for decades and pre Ashley. Personally I chucked my ST when Rafa left, after having it for 29 years before anyone accuses me of thinking I'm holier than thou.
  7. Will we end up with so many members that they outnumber the tickets available and some will still miss out?
  8. I've used both sides of the loyalty point system to my advantage in the past. I've helped others by getting them away tickets and myself by gaining a point. Now that all my 182 pts have been wiped when I temporarily chucked it I've been to a few away games with someone elses help. It's a fair system if used correctly because these pts are hard earned. It's a closed shop now but we've all had the chance to build them during leaner times. That said, maybe you have to somehow start proving the person applying for the ticket is actually using the ticket. God knows how you would do that though. You see young kids at really popular away games who obviously haven't built up 100+ pts.
  9. Don't know about the new batch of S/tickets but existing holders have the option of DD. Can't see it being different.
  10. Really was rare back in the 80s. I can still remember signing Howard Gayle on loan and his song being "He's black, he's broon, he's playing for the toon. Howard Gayle, Howard Gayle".
  11. Few of the early posters on there dismissing the theory at least.
  12. Well done the Gas. Will be some night down there tonight. Elliot was Roy of the Rovers today, Bristol Rovers. A dream end to a season for you. Congratulations and enjoy.
  13. Anyone remember when Cattermole was caught scratching cars in Stowell Street?
  14. What a day for the Gas. Emotional roller coaster. Passed "the mem" on the 75 bus last Friday and was thinking of the posters on here and Elliot being there. Was going over to Newport v Colchester for ground No 85 in my doing the 92 attempt. Had flown down and had time to kill so had a look at Concorde at the Aerospace museum before taking the train to Newport from Patchway station. Good luck next week.
  15. I get the Swansea reference. Me being an old git. Back in the 80s we had our away game down there rained off and many stayed on until the game went ahead the day after. As nun tumblers says some even kipped on the beach. He really doesn't like Sunderland though .
  16. Might actually see a Bromley game soon. Booked everything to tick Luton off the 9 remaining grounds yet to visit in the list of 92 then it got moved from 3pm to 12.30 so toying with the idea of going from there to Borehamwood v Bromley as it's within reach. Will have to miss KO like. A lot depends on how close Borehamwood are to getting in the play offs by then. Same day as toon at Norwich but booked it expecting our game to be moved too. Wouldn't have went to Norwich if I'm honest.
  17. I'm thinking that pic is circa 1987 with Paul Goddard in it?
  18. I must have signed up to the Bristol Rovers database when I bought my ticket for the game I attended back in Dec (ground hopping). Got an invite to do a survey on the website a couple of weeks ago and they've offered me a complimentary ticket for Saturday v Bradford. Typical, I never win owt or get freebies but now that I have it's useless to me. I would offer it out but it's complicated cos it's an e ticket sent to my e mail address . They're saying Saturday's game close to a sell out so they've given me 24 hours to claim it. Don't wanna deprive a Rovers fan of a seat so I'll let it go and they can sell it. Very kind offer from the club however.
  19. Only watched maybe 10 mins, early in the game. Looked fairly entertaining but I didn't persevere with it. Did see Elliot have a shot from outside the box which bounced into the keeper. Went out for a corner I think. Atmosphere sounded good.
  20. Yes MP, I'm aware Look North covers the north east and Cumbria but the point I was making was that I found it funny that a major SAFC story...in their eyes anyway...was trumped by one about a sport which usually gets less coverage being played in a relatively small Cumbrian town. Although it looks nice enough from what I've seen of it.
  21. Had to laugh when the 1st sports story on last nights look north wasn't Jermain Defoes retirement but a forthcoming Whitehaven rugby match. It's not even the north east ?
  22. Chelsea fans man. Up there with the most arrogant. Was up in Paisley last Saturday (St Mirren v Dundee United). Had a part time interest in St Mirren since my school days in the 80s but that's another story. In Spoons my mate starts talking about Abramovich. A lad on the next table turns and says he's a Chelsea ST holder in his broad West of Scotland accent. A lass sat alone on another table joined in before joining him at his table. After hearing what game we were going to she says to him "I'm not even talking about St Mirren. Embarrassing". He starts with "Why would you even watch them? Go to Ibrox instead". He's got a point i hear some of you say but he was clearly one of those who think football should consist of 12 to 20 big name clubs. I'm guessing he was right behind the failed 'super' league.
  23. "Football is about the here and now" 9-1, six in a row marra. FTM
  24. Seems like quite a transformation on the pitch since I was there. Good to see Elliot doing well. I sat that night. In the very steep stand that you enter via stairs in front of it. Didn't even realise there was an adjoining terrace to my left at the time. Could hear Port Vale fans and wondered where the noise was coming from. Went for a pint in the Wellington across the road pre match.
