  1. This is the feeling I get. I have grown to him this season but it is very important to remember the standard of this league compared to the top flight. But didn't Coloccini play well at the start of last season against the likes of Man Utd for example? I think it has to do more with confidence than with ability and that with the confidence he gains this season he will be a much better player next season. I hope so as we are obviously shelling out quite a lot of money for him atm, it would benefit both us and him if he could get some good form together in the top flight. Assuming we go up, it will be his second season in the top flight, Vidic and Evra took a year to get going (probably less) and hes got some experience of lower level football too. We will see, I hope he goes and does the business next season if all goes well for the club. I think that's a good point that's often overlooked about Coloccini. I don't think he settled in very well last season, and that's not uncommon for foreign players going to English clubs. When that's piled on top of all the uncertainty, the managerial changes, and the fact that the whole team was struggling, it's hard to imagine that he was going to have an outstanding season. I have faith that he's going to come good for us in the Premiership next year, if he's still with us.
  2. Personally, I would never take Bullard. We've had too many over-paid, injury prone, aging stars at NUFC in the past few years. I don't want one more.
  3. Yeah, it's likely that Beckford would be very interested in coming here. He has a likely chance of breaking into the starting 11 and will most probably be playing in the Premiership next season with us. Hughton probably feels that stating his interest publicly is a good way to force the issue.
  4. Didn't Hughton say just last week that he didn't want to cell Geremi? Is he being sold under our manager's nose? This whole thing (including the lack of confirmation) is very typical of our current regime.
  5. Ashley's an idiot, granted, but he must now realize that the only thing that stands between him and losing hundreds of millions of pounds is getting us promoted. He's made lots of crazy decisions, but offloading players this month would be the daftest thing of all. I refuse to believe that he'll do it. We'll bring in more players on loan and sell none. The club will peddle some crap about Barton being "just like a new signing" when he comes fit and we'll trudge on. But I don't see us selling key players like Coloccini, even if there is an offer on the table.
  6. Dec, of Ant and Dec fame. For a brief moment I thought it was Michael Owen.
  7. We've needed a poacher. I like Ranger and Carroll but between them they've missed a host of easy chances. Harewood's got 8/10 years of experience on them to turn those misses into goals. Aye he was garbage today but the tactics worked against him as they did everyone. You might aswell have played him at right-back. Aye but that's what I'm saying. We could probably get someone who is just as effective for less. If Ashley is willing to pay his wages, who cares if we could get someone else for less? He's scoring goals for us and we should keep him.
  8. Just saw the goal. It was 100% a foul. I don't understand why anyone would think otherwise.
  9. He's scored some important goals for us. Even if they weren't all quality, we need people in advanced roles who will put the ball in the back of the net, and he's proven he can do it at this level. I don't see why we shouldn't keep him on.
  10. We'll extend Simpson's loan, Barton will come back from injury and we'll be told it's "just like getting two new players in."
  11. The important thing is that we're 12 points ahead of the 3rd place team. I'm starting to imagine that it's actually unlikely we don't get promoted at this point.
  12. http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/league-championship/2009-2010/table http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/division-one/1992-1993/table/1992-12-05 Seven points behind. Doing better at home though. When Wolves had 19 games, they had 46 points, so we're four points behind from last year.
  13. I'm loving the live table. Ten points clear of the playoffs. Keep it up, lads! http://soccernet.espn.go.com/livetables?league=eng.2&cc=5901
  14. Same here. Tried opening the direct link in your media player? Thanks for the advice, but still no go. Oh well. This is the only thing I hate about being relegated...not being able to even hear so many of the matches.
  15. I've subscribed to NUFC.co.uk but I can't get the radio link to work on my Mac. Grumble.
  16. I never thought that Milner was that bad when he was with us, tbh. He was only going to get better, whether he stayed here or moved on, and selling him was a big mistake. I don't know what happened to Duff. He was a decent player and he seems to be doing well again. I think there was just a culture of complacency in the club over the past few years, maybe.
  17. Wasn't good enough for Toronto FC. Wasn't good enough to even get into the squad at Derby when they got relegated a few years back. He's not coming back.
  18. Can't wait for Brazil v Portugal and England v USA. A good draw for England, really. Couldn't have asked for better.
  19. It's more like pancake. The dude who does the videos on .co.uk pronounced it like karate.
  20. This is not a criticism, just an observation, but it's interesting to me that the majority of the pride being expressed isn't directed at the club, but at the fans (yourselves, tbh).
  21. Every time I do one of these quizzes my brain turns to mush.
