I think it's just because it's easier to clear out the deadwood, mercenaries don't like to hang about in the Championship and there'll be a few clauses in there to get rid of others you don't want to keep. However you do need a nucleus of players that can be your backbone, players with the desire to fight for the cause that can cut it in the championship which is a whole different beast to the Premo, not sure where that's gonna come from with them.

Players of a better quality, especially when you have a lack of them, should be allowed less criticism due to their ability to turn a game in a moment. Why bench a player of that quality for one bad game or even a few stray passes in a good game? Terrible example picking Shola. How many people rate Shola? People have low expectations of Shola. People have higher expectations of Ben Arfa and get frustrated when he doesn't reach those standards consistently. People know Ben Arfa can provide the quality, we'd all like it if he did it consistently, even Pardew. Anyway, we won the game and Ben Arfa provided the assist. Be happy. People trying to point score off it isn't good. No ones trying to point score here, the argument is the criticism, why shouldn't Shola be criticised, not by us but by Pardew? David Icke said he doesn't think Pardew has been particularly harsh to HBA but he clearly picks Shola over him far too often (once is too often tbf). He's not treated with the same yardstick as other players and that is the problem. I'm happy we won today and I'm happy he came on and supplied the assist, it just proves a point when he comes on, admittedly not at his best, barely out of second gear and makes such a marked improvement on the team.

It's telling that his biggest objectors are only able to give conjecture and Pardew logic as argument. Just the once today, honestly thought his goal was going to be blown but he held the line well, I'm shocked! Aye, I paused looking at the linesman when we scored thinking he had to be offside but it never came thankfully. It was a good call from the ref as I think it was only the right back keeping him on.

Exactly how it ended for us, the players we had were more than capable of putting a run of games together, in the end none of them gave a shit. Already on holiday with their agents finding them their meal tickets out of there.

Happy for him, looked a lot livelier today, spurned a couple of chances and blasted at the keeper but one had to go in at some point. Good thing is his head never dropped and he was rewarded for his tenacity in the end.
