Sold some T-shirts, scored some goals.

Have we really improved over last season?
-
How don't we have enough quality to pass it around? There are clubs with worse players that do it. And to answer the top question - not if he keeps making the mistakes (that I think are mistakes) he is now, which are; having Ameobi on the pitch, Alan Smith as captain, Milner on the left, Zoggy at left back, playing long balls, playing 4-3-3 and 4-4-2 against the wrong teams (my opinion), and talking crap about other managers. Yes if he can continue the forward momentum that we have going. Even though I just said all of that against him, he's still doing a cracking job (my opinion) and we're still a much better team than we have been since SBR got sacked. So, final answer - if he gets 3+ seasons, yes.

Sure you can replace someone that barely plays :S

I only hope that Martins will get to play all of the time and we stick with him. If I had to sell Martins or Owen, it would definitely be Owen. Martins' only problems at Newcastle will be the fans (who will condemn him after a few games without scoring) and Owen, who will always automatically start because of his History. I noticed a post on here a while ago about this forum being in contact with the club and they will listen to our views etc, well, tell them to give Martins a start in every game from now until the end of the season, I bet he'll get more goals than Owen would. By the way, I'm a Martins fan. -edit- Oh and while you're telling the club this, ask them to play Smith or Viduka upfront with him, instead of Ameobi.
-
I like Martins and I'd prefer us to play him week in and week out over Owen. He's young, quick, can shoot, but needs a string of games and a team without Alan Smith as captain in midfield (no offense Alan mate, but I reckon you should be where Ameobi is now and I reckon Ameobi should be at the job center ).

Even if Duff was (with 'was' being the key word here) better than Milner, he's knocking on a bit, whereas Milner still has plenty of time to improve. Everyone keeps saying he's a squad player at best, and they make this judgment by how he played under Souness and Roeder. All of our player were crap back then. IIRC, Milner was our best player last season, playing on the right. Give the lad a chance playing where he wants to in a decent squad man. Everyone complained when he went to Villa so Solano could return here, then everyone wanted Freddy to keep him when it looked like we were selling him, then he came back, played great... now everyone wants him to sit on the bench, I don't get it? :/
-
Zoggy on the left, Milner on the right. I honestly can't see how anyone could think there is a better formation than this - maybe I'm just stupid. Duff used to be a decent player though, maybe we can play him on the left during cup matches or something to see what he's like. Though Big Sam did say that whoever did best in training got to play, this is probably the best way to go imo.

It's a love and hate relationship ... but there's no better sport to watch eh?
-
I'll stick with Big Sam, I want to see what he can do (I just hope he doesn't make any more column in zoo/nuts, whichever it is, about other managers).
-
I don't think he'll go to another premiership club now.
-
Not really, I like Big Sam. If Jose came here all we would hear would be excuses for why we were losing.

This match was hugely disappointing to me. I can't for the life of me work out why Shola started infront of Martins, this whole big striker little striker myth is annoying. even if Shola has good attributes, he's still no where near the level of Martins in my opinion. Our good start had to come to end end sooner or later, but in this fashion... it's really shocking.

90% of what you read should on an internet forum should be considered crap,5% lies,2% wind up,1% reasoned opinion,1%fact,1%hilarity,1%error. That's 101% lol how didn't you get that? THE SHAME!
-
lol aye
-
Sorry for the double post, but everything that you read on an internet forum should be automatically considered as opinion and not fact, no matter how it's portrayed. I guess this is just an unwritten rule though

So, can I say something like "I THINK the chairman of shef wed is a petty idiot" and be ok, because i phrased it differently? Disclaimer - I don't know the chairman of shef wed, and everything written in this post is some fiction - and other random nonsense to cover my own back
-
Whatever happened to free speech or the right to have an opinion? This is supposed to be a free country and I find it pathetic that you can't voice your opinion over something like that - even if your opinion is wrong. It really bugs me that some poor person will be getting sued over something he wrote in the heat of a moment or maybe something he wrote when he was drunk. :S

I think he was was an alright chairman, made some good decisions and made some bad ones; I just feel he made more of the bad ones. No question the man did a lot for us, but at some of the really important times, such as who he should have hired after Souness - he let himself down. I mean come on, most of us we're shouting from the roof tops "Get Hitzfeld!", and he brushed it off as some kind of betting scam! What makes it worse is that he hired a manager with a crappy record and no management license - solely because he had a few good results for us. Judging by some of the posts that have been made, he's a step up from the board that were there before him (the ones before John Hall etc), but Ashley/Mort are a step up from him. None of it matters now anyway, I just hope that this thread dies soon, so that I can read about something more interesting in the morning before I go to work.
-
I reckon they're just disappointed with the way he left, I reckon I'd feel the same if he left us saying he needed a break and ended up at Chelsea or somewhere a month later.
-
I don't care where players are from. There would be more British players in teams if they were good enough, which they clearly aren't.
-
Great news. If Enrique is any good, I hope to see N'Zogbia moved further up the field. Yet another bit of good news coming from SJP.
-
I can't really add much to what has already been mentioned - though I absolutely agree with getting rid of Alan Oliver! I'll be happy if Our new owners can keep the momentum going. There's nothing but good news coming out of Newcastle United at the moment and I love it!
-
I really don't want to see Barton on the wing. For me, our strongest midfield would be: Zoggy - Barton - Geremi - Milner Of course for some matches it would be better to rest some of those players and use other ones - we seem to have a nice bit of depth to our squad now and we can afford to leave players like Emre or Butt on the bench, or even just rotate them. I have faith in Allardyce though, I know he knows what he's doing with this 4-3-3 formation!
-
Out of curiosity - what are Milners stats like compared to other premiership clubs right wingers? If he was 7th in the premiership with Aston Villa, I'd assume he'd be better than that with us... Though he was playing under Roeder, I think Allardyce will make him a lot better.
