Our defence has been shit because they've been shit. The gaping holes in midfield and the useless goalkeepers have also meant our defensive capabilities overall have been shit. The two combined are why we're unable to keep a clean sheet and drop so many points from winning positions. Let's not kid ourselves we've got the equivalent of George Graham's Arsenal back 4 but they're being left exposed by shit keepers and gaps in midfield. Because we haven't. Some great individuals in there but as a unit this season, utter shit.

A player making one error most games and it always leads to a goal is shirley far worse than a player making 5 errors most games that lead to no goals. All about the context of the errors innit, that's why I asked what the stats actually track. Being error prone is different to committing catastrophic errors. And as long as goals win games, then the errors that lead to goals will be the measure for me. And FWIW I don't really have a strong opinion on Thiaw, to my naked eye he's looked very good at times and also canny weak at times.
