I don't think it's any coincidence that he's been getting better with each performance. He's a totally different striker than the one that we had up front for the majority of the season so it will take time for 1) him to get "match fit" and 2) the team to start playing to his strengths the way they did for Carroll. He's not going to blossom off long balls over the top that his strike partner has lots of trouble heading properly, he feeds more on balls through the channels.
Makes me really wish we would've picked up a wide-right player to push Barton into the middle so he can pick these types of passes.
Nail on head.
Have to agree with this as well.
I think he'd be much more effective if he ran straight at defenders between the full back and the center back. He would cause much more havoc and create more space out wide for Enrique to fill in and if need-be get some actual crosses in.
We agree the price, well on the way to agreeing personal terms, then just as we're packing Wayne off south, they go and fuck us over.
Charming.
I think the article states that we actually did agree terms. B'ham pulled out of it, not Larsson or us.
Just saw an interview on Sky where Pardew went on about Kuqi knowing his place - and that place being bench cover so we don't have to put kids "who have barely played five reserve matches" on the bench - and that he "definitely" will not be starting.
