05. Liverpool fan for a day until I learned what the Champions League was. Couldn't bandwagon. Waited for the next season, decided I would support the worst team I saw. I chose them after visiting Newcastle and really falling in love with the area. It was right around the time when Fox Soccer started broadcasting here so I chose them and have watched almost every match since - missing very few indeed.

Relatively new to the scene, about 04/05 (and now I lost all my cred on this board).

Maybe as far as winning anything, but the've never even been close (so no tragic failure... just failure) - also the Cubs are the affluent and very white northern-suburban demographic of Chicago which is also a two team town... the demographics kill the compason for me. That said I can't think of any other baseball team that would be a better fit... but I've never been a fan. My other two would be the Cards or the Red Sox but both have been pretty good about actually winning stuff.

I would have to say The Cubs are the closest to being the Newcastle of America (as far as baseball goes).
