hah, would've been awesome if Barton got that goal!
-
Who do we think Barton comes on for?
-
We usually do alright near the end of matches because to be honest we're just more fit than the rest of the squads in this division.
-
Nope, I think it's as good as we could've hoped for. Don't mind the 4-5-1 and having the five person midfield infront of that make-shift back four. I think it was a solid team selection from Hughton. A shame Butt has to start but it could be far worse.

At least that will push Guthrie up the pitch rather than him being in a less-effective deep lying role.
-
Not sure man. I figure if your teammates knew you were gay that they would be far more understanding than a bunch of mongs in the crowd. Your teammate(s) may not agree with it but they have to face you day-in/day-out and will at least not be an idiot about it. The crowd on the other hand - well there is a large feeling of anonymity where they will feel they can get away with a lot more.

This is a false statement by the way. Homosexuality occurs in many vertibrates across the animal kingdom and there is actually a great deal of research showing the benefits from an evolutionary standpoint. Ok, that is fair, but surely you cannot dispute the fact that it is a deviant behaviour and that people who engage in it will always be otracised to some degree. That is just the fact of the matter. Deviant? You're either born gay or not, dude. There's nothing deviant about it. Do you know what the word means? It deviates from the norm....therefore it is deviant regardless of how one becomes this way. That is quite clear. There's nothing unnatural (or deviant) about it if you're homosexual.

Glad someone handled that comment with a bit of tact. The statement definitely took me by surprise.

This just about sums up my feelings (if Carroll is indeed "at fault" obviously, we don't really know what happened but where there's smoke there's usually fire and Carroll doesn't exactly have a very good track record in regards to these kinds of things).
-
Carroll will almost definitely start because Hughton would (rightly or wrongly) get tons of shit for not starting him and us losing the game because of it. Although he's likely to get equal amounts of shit for actually playing him as well. But at least for his sake we'd be coming back with three points.

That stuff looks gross.
-
He's been out injured for almost two seasons.
-
I like him but he's far too injury prone for our club.

A true one indeed.

Would definitely be looking in the direction of Wigan and Portsmouth for some cheap(ish) buys if we're promoted.

Love hearing stuff like this.

This is another good point. You don't become the dickhead "superfan" until you use the fact that you're at SJP every week to try and win an argument on a messageboard against someone who doesn't have the means/ability to get to the matches every week. It's more about the way you use the fact that you're able to be at SJP and that you know more because of it that pulls any "superfan" assholeness into question.
-
I'm glad someone has made a thread about this because it's something I've actually thought about making a thread on myself. My gripe with the whole "I know more because I see them live every week" is that in fact, you're getting a more well rounded watching experience by seeing a match on TV. You get the added benefit of replays, multiple angles, etc... How many times has someone's review of a contentious moment of a match started with "from where I sit it looked like..." and it be totally wrong? Would I much rather be at a match? Of course. Watching sports live is how it was meant to be watched. Does it make me a better fan or know more about players just because I see them in the flesh? Definitely not.

What kind of trouble does one get into if they jump on the pitch in a mass pitch "invasion" like tonight and get caught?
-
Did really well today. Took one of their forwards out in pretty rough fashion right before they got subbed.

Get your reason out of here!
