Remember everyone and their mam praising him for always putting in 7 out of 10 performances every game. Then, seemingly overnight, he was deemed shit by the same people. Hall’s the clear first choice but as a reliever for him I think bringing him back is a no-brainer if he’s up for it.

We can sign players in January, but the club has generally been reluctant to make panic buys in that window; the obvious exception being when we were staring relegation in the face. What Eddie is getting at isn’t that signings are impossible, but that we won’t just bring in random players who aren’t on the club’s shortlist. For better or worse, we operate with a very specific and limited set of targets, and if those deals aren’t available or don’t make sense under PSR, we won’t force something for the sake of it.

At his best, he’s a very good player, but at no stage during his time here has he been the standout centre-back in a partnership imo. First it was Schär, then Burn, and more recently Thiaw. I’m hoping his recent poor form is more down to rust than a decline caused by his injury problems, as I still rate him highly.
