Nah, I’m with you for the most part. Honestly, my point is we just need to keep doing what we’re doing; it’s working and there’s no need to overthink things. But on Gordon, I’ve got to disagree. He’s seriously overhated imo. And if we ever decide to sell, he’s going for at least 40% more than what we paid. I’m fully confident in that.

To be fair, my point was that we should keep targeting the best young Premier League players we can realistically afford or attract. Someone like Wharton doesn’t seem especially realistic financially, but there are others who would be.

For me, it’s still about predominantly getting the best under-25 Premier League talent we can, with a few quality signings from abroad. There’s a funny habit here of rating players from lower leagues more highly simply because we don’t watch them week in week out. The mystery gets people far more excited than the reality usually does imo.

Considering how many new players are still finding their feet and haven’t had a full dose of proper training, it’s hardly shocking that we look a bit flat imo. Rotation only gets you so far when there’s still so many learning what’s expected of them tactically etc.

The fact that we don’t have enough time to do full-on training sessions with Eddie is hurting us, I feel. We seem a bit jaded from having so many games back to back too.
