I think it’s an expectation issue here though … if Gordon had Cherki’s technical chops on top of his pace and pressing, he wouldn’t even be here.

That’s fair and yes he’s been fairly up and down (injuries playing a part too) but goals and assists aren’t the full story imo; stats show he’s regularly creating key passes, stretching defences with his pace, and opening space for teammates. His expected goals and assists show he’s still generating chances, and his UCL performances prove he can deliver against top opposition too. My weird take? He’s got one of those faces that people just seem to find easier to hate.

I like Ramsdale’s kicking, but I really dislike goalkeepers who make straightforward saves look spectacular, and he’s firmly in that category for me. By contrast, Pope (clangers aside) consistently makes ridiculous saves look routine. There were a few games where Ramsdale barely faced a shot on target and still ended up conceding. Pope is massively underrated in my opinion; as a pure goalie, he’s among the best in the league. If he had better distribution, he’d have attracted far bigger offers than us at the time.

He looked pretty tidy on the ball last night- maybe played it a bit safe at times- but you can definitely see the quality that’s there. Just need him to stay fit and get a run going.

The criticism aimed at Gordon feels harsh and unwarranted for the most part imo. He’s actually delivered several solid performances this season, yet fans seem quick to get on his back without offering the same patience or grace others receive. On top of that, the idea that he’s pushing for a move is pure fiction; there’s no real basis for it all, just noise being repeated until it sounds true.

We’ve literally only made maybe 3 bad signings. Bit of an overreaction imo.

I know this is a bit of a wet post but being an NUFC fan right now is funny- we’re doing well for the most part, expectations keep shooting up, and everyone’s either buzzing or stressing. And fair enough, wanting more is part of the ride. Just a tiny reminder (and sorry if this sounds a bit preachy); we’ve actually got a club we can kinda be proud of again. I’m not saying we should settle for slightly more than mediocre but once in a while it’s important to reflect on how far we’ve come that a draw away to a good side in the UCL is considered a bad result.

Besides Liverpool, obviously.

Hate to be the fan that moans about actual match-goers while sat at home but Christ, that spurs game atmosphere sounded awful on my stream. Must be a reason for but it was really disappointing. Especially considering spurs are the type of team that would’ve crumbled massively under any kind of hostile home noise.
