Oh definitely, but once Son leaves, retires etc. I don’t see them being able to justify larger sponsorship revenues; you either need a global megastar or sustained success and I don’t see them getting those anytime soon. Coupled with the fact that their owners aren’t as willing as ours to take on losses year on year; I see them as very catchable.

I see your point but I don’t think we’ll ever really catch up (financially) to the likes of Man Utd, City, Arsenal and Liverpool (even Chelsea but the rules are adversely affecting them too) so the best we can expect in the near future is to always be the team that capitalizes on one or more of them having a poor season and grab CL that way. I see Villa and ourselves (and Spurs) in competition for that spot and the less competition for us the better.

Wonder when or if any of our top players (I doubt they know much about PSR) will see our inactivity in these windows as a lack of ambition?

Unfortunately that’s the issue; there aren’t, otherwise PSR wouldn’t keep getting voted in.

They won’t be selling us imo. Even from an investment point of view it’s a poor time to sell and from a vanity/optics pov it’ll look like a massive failure. I’m sure they’ll see this a long term project and the club (as it already is) will benefit massively from their stewardship.

There’s always problems with PIF. As usual the government have set lofty goals without knowing the real prices, how to secure funding or ways to achieve said goals. A lot of funding has been diverted towards the ultimate vanity project in The World Cup too.

He’s always been a bit erratic but physicality was always his biggest attribute; it’s very rare to see a cm with the pace of a top winger that helps up and down the pitch. Just hope all the injuries haven’t irreparably affected that part of his game…

Italian fans and media hate that he’s not at a traditionally “big club”. Heard it from my own Italian mates that “possibly the best midfielder in the world” is wasting his career with us.

If the money’s right I don’t see why he wouldn’t be interested; guaranteed UCL football every season, a fat paycheck, trophies every season, nice city (for a wealthy young man) and a chance to stat-pad with goals every week. Doubt anyone would be willing to pay the 150 plus million we’d surely be asking for though. We can start worrying once he’s on the last 2 years of his contract.
