It was the perfect game to showcase what Longstaff brings to the team; industry off the ball and lots of covering. In games where we’ve got more than 25% possession is when he looks like the weaker link in the middle. Must admit, I was seething when I saw Sean being all buddy-buddy with that diving melt at the end of the match though. Sounds shan, but he needs more bite in him. I don’t want my midfielders to be sweetie-pies on the pitch.

Very true but having year-on-year access to European competitions for their players to showcase their abilities on a grander stage also helps massively.

Chalobah isn’t bad but he’s certainly a step down from Guehi. I suppose the asking prices would reflect the quality difference too though.
