  1. Unfortunate to be behind. Murphy did some good things but on the whole looks out of his depth here. Not a good half for Hayden capped by the fact he should have scored. Did Joselu do anything? Whether he’s injured or not Elliott is a liability. A better keeper keeps one of those out. Yedlin, Ritchie, Shelvey the pick of the bunch for me.
  2. Voted for the following based on what I've seen and what I've read about these players. Mix of impact on the club and talent. Struggled the most with the fullbacks and forwards (for different reasons). Given McCracken Brennan Moncur McMichael Beardsley Green Harvey Gallacher Millburn Shearer And my favorite memory from the last 125 years:
  3. There goes our takeover: https://mobile.nytimes.com/2017/11/04/world/middleeast/saudi-arabia-waleed-bin-talal.html
  4. I’m ready for robot officials or reviews on plays like that or something. Can’t keep ruining games when there are alternatives.
  5. Be shocked if it’s 4-4-2 from the start. Joselu #10. Like it.
  6. What are people even looking for? I can assure you Wall St. is not going to get started today with Stavely ringing the bell and announcing a takeover of Newcastle United (which would draw a lot of shrugs from the floor if she did). For those that want to waste their time, you can watch the NYSE open live here: https://www.nyse.com/bell Tapestry, the new holding company of Coach and Kate Spade, is ringing the bell.

Just watched highlights of the 5-1. Shola's second in that game is one of my favorite goals we've ever scored. That game is extra enjoyable as it's before the Pardew stink.
  8. They've only given up more than one goal twice this season - two on opening day away to Chelsea (after going 3-0 up) and 3 to City (a controversial penalty and two late goals). At home, they've allowed two goals all season. Given our limited options there's nothing to be ashamed of here.
  9. It's very possible Rafa completed his entire talk and then Gerrard wanted to say some rah-rah thing. It's also possible Cisse has it wrong or the wrong game. It's a complete non-story regardless of what happened.
  10. If we assume the press is it at least right about her interest and that it's backed by PCP in some way (which it would have to be as she does not have nearly enough personal wealth), then it's most likely either: A) She's looking to add a football club to the list of the group's holdings/investments. She would, presumably, be the chairwoman in this instance and would be expected to deliver returns to all the investors (as discussed, this would not mean we'd be run with an eye on an annual profit - much more likely to be a long term play based on the club's value continuing to rise through both a bigger global brand and ever-increasing TV deals). There wouldn't really be a single owner in this scenario - we'd be owned by PCP Capital. B) She's the public figure in the search for a PL club for a much smaller group (potentially as small as one individual). In this scenario she could remain involved post-takeover, but also possible she's not at all involved shortly after the deal is done. At some point we'd hear person X is behind the bid or a consortium including A, B and C led by person Y. Depending on who is involved this option would be more likely than the other one to lead to (something resembling) Man City levels of investment.
  11. Supporting this club would be impossible if you didn't let yourself dream at the slightest sign of hope.
  12. Went for Huddersfield, Brighton, and Bournemouth. Palace have started terribly but they are only six points off 14th and nine points off 10th. As long as Zaha stays healthy and they get Benteke back I think they will ultimately be ok. I hope they go down though as this rot started with Pardew.
  13. We're probably about three days away from: <cue outrage>
  14. If you were a new owner who wanted to instantly raise the global awareness/appeal of your new club I'm not sure there would be any better player to buy (that is even remotely realistic ... i.e. not Messi, Ronaldo, etc.).
  15. No Boxing Day match is complete shit.
  16. My guess is they have completely mangled this:

They will probably survive, but they are already 12 points off a playoff place. It becomes unlikelier by the week that they get out of the division this year. Given their financial situation, they are pretty much fucked. I think their only hopes are striking gold with a quality (likely unknown) manager or a rich owner rescuing them, otherwise it's likely to be a long time before we see them again.* (* Assuming some series of events that involves Ashley staying and Rafa walking doesn't send us plummeting alongside them.)
  18. He wasn't - there's a group of three I know, one a Liverpool fan (another Chelsea), who absolutely hate him and think he's completely overrated as a manager.
  19. A journalist who writes for a publication that covers the Premier League said this to me today... go on... After the transfer window closed he argued that we had a perfectly fine squad and Rafa shouldn't have any complaints. Which now, of course, means that in his mind we are performing about average given our squad (i.e. a replacement manager would be doing the same).
  20. Give over, man. I'd f***ing love it if that happened. Seriously, did you see them on Saturday? I'd have a heart attack if we had someone like De Bruyne spraying passes around in black and white.
